i can admit to whatever faults are in the cars i like. Fanboys however can not.

Looks are subjective. you may think a girl is pretty while i think she is ugly, it doesn't mean she is ugly it means we have different taste, to that particular gentlemen(s) the camaro is ugly. there is no way in your life you will ever no matter how hard you try make someone look at something through your eyes and think what you think. you may think 80lbs girls are hot? i think they are disgusting. all subjective and in the eye of the beholder. just because in your mind something is not ugly does not mean in reality to anyone else it cannot be ugly. get it?

most everyone thinks the camaro looks fantastic if that strange person thinks that its ugly it isn't because of different taste its because they have poor taste there are absolutes in life a certain kind of facial shape is beautiful and thats a scientific fact its not debatable these have been the opinions of someone with great taste

I'm a new member to this website. Looks like a lot of information here. I'll need it.

Anyways, here is my question/quandery.

I was at my local Chevrolet and Ford dealers tonight looking at 2010's. Why is there such a big price difference between the Mustang GT and the Camaro SS? I can walk into the Ford Showroom and get a GT for $28k-32K. Every Camaro SS I've seen starts in the $37K-39K range. What gives? Wasn't the Camaro supposed to be competitive with the Mustang? How does Chevrolet expect to build and sell enough of them when the consumer can just walk down the block and save $10k.

Am I missing something?

I definately like the ride of the Camaro better then the Mustang. That is big with me as Wisconsin roads are not known for their smoothness. I also love the sound if that big Chevrolet V8 compared to the Ford Modular engine. I k ow that the shifter would be the first thing I would replace on either. Both are just asking for a Hurst short throw shifter if they are available.

Actually, I'd love to plunk down $64k and get a new Lingenfelter Camaro with the twin turbos. 800hp is this car just hss to haul ass. Ah to dream. I've also seen some of the old dealers getting back into the act I think I saw a Yenko and Baldwin Chevrolet dealer conversions, just like they did in the 60s.

Personally, even with the $10k difference, I wouldn't buy a Mustang. I'm not a blue oval guy. I'm a Chevy man true and true. I was just surprised to see that much if a price difference.

Chevrolet is building and selling Camaros like wild. They're more expensive because they have a fresh design, better interior components, and most importantly a powerhouse that brings it to the quarter mile mark a half-second faster. Why would GM charge less for a significantly superior product when it costs more to build?

Let's also point out that your numbers are bad. The Camaro SS starts at $31k. In other words, the Camaro SS is in the same price bracket as a Mustang GT. Let's also not forget that the Mustang needs its suspension package in order to keep up. It only wins in the "cool" category of some magazines. Even Ford comparisons verify that there is a substantial need for improvement to keep up. Why do you think Ford is rushing that 5.0L to the market?

The Camaro is not $10k more than a Mustang. The Camaro does cost more. Wouldn't you pay more for a better product?

What the OP is seeing is Dealer Markup. ...not necessarly the MSRP labels showing a higher price over F**d. He is correct though, you will pay more for a Camaro due to Supply and Demand, if you can find one on a lot.

I will say that from my own research 85% of the Camaro's on the lot today are V6, and the remaining 15% that you find for sale on a lot are SS's that fell thru on the original order financing.

Once that person's custom order fell through, the Dealer immediately marks these badboys up $5K+ - sad as it is, they will get it from you or from someone else. They are willing to wait too...
