Opinions wanted!

So very recently I have stumbled across a possibly great opportunity I just want so insight on if its worth it or not. I have been putting away and waiting for the perfect 5th gen in my price range for almost 9 months now. I truly wanted a white or orange SS or any 1SS for that matter. Friday last week I came across a red, automatic, 2011 Camaro 2LS (V6) with only 5,500 miles on it. I went to look at it but it was getting the usual service by the dealership. I only had a chance talk to the sales rep who said the lowest they could go is $19,500 for it. All I know it comes with the 2 sets of wheels both with fresh rubbers, the original black spoke steel wheels, and aftermarket wheels. I was told the car sat in a older gentlemen's garage till his wife said it had to go. Thats all I heard about it.

2011 Camaro LS, automatic with 5,500 miles for $19,500. Also includes 2 sets of wheels. Is that worth it or should I just keep working toward the SS for around $25k with heavier milage?

I live about 15 minutes from a local drag strip and plan on doing passes as well as spending time with the local Corvette club who hosts autocross events very so often.

I am stuck on the decision so I thought asking here would help. I pretty much have to make my mind up when the sales rep calls on Monday.

I would appreciate to keep the replies as polite as possible. Thank you fellow Camaro fans!

First drive the car in question. Then if they have a 5th gen SS somewhere on their or someone else's lot take it for a spin. If you think you will be happy with a 2LS then go for it. The phrase "only a V6" is from people who have never driven one of these "only a V6" cars. They're putting out as much, and in some cases more power than a 4th gen SS or Z/28.

As for the price, check www.kbb.com and/or www.nadaguides.com. They will give you an idea of what you should pay for the car. Quite honestly an extra set of wheels and tires would make zero difference to me. They're nice to have and if one of the sets is a set of nice winter tires and you're going to drive in the winter in your Camaro then it might be a nice selling point otherwise who cares?

The thing you need to remember is opposite of what you said, "I pretty much have to make my mind up when the sales rep calls on Monday." is not a good philosophy to have. There were TONS of 5th gen Camaros made. If this one passes you by, there's another one out there waiting for you. Don't get too excited and get something you will regret later.

Six months ago you could have bought a new 2015 1ls m6 for that price. No matter what the miles are, it's not worth it. That has the old LLT motor, not the updated LFX motor. If he would go 15,500, I'd still want a LFX v-6, 2012 or newer. 2ls a to is the slowest of all 5 gen models. You'll be happier with the SS for sure.

Mines has 22,xxx miles on it. 2013 2ls. Had 12,000 when I bought it, they had it for 18,999 but was able to get it for 17,999. Has the lfx engine, spare tire and Jack and everything in the trunk. New. Clean car fax.

Be patient and get an SS with all the specs you want when the time comes. Don't settle because you're anxious. I'm only 21 and if I've learned anything about cars from my dad it's that there's always another deal to be made and you can always find a better deal if you're willing to have patience.

The V6 thing isn't what gets me. I drove a '14 LT V6 and had a blast, either engine would smoke my turd gen Z28. All three trims are a huge performance upgrade for me.

I would only buy year model of 2012 or newer. Big time improvement to the V-6 engine horse power and torque. Also the SS model year of 2012 or newer, huge improvement on the suspension.

You should wait and get what you want. Personally, I would always rue the day I bought a 6 when what I want is an 8. Then there's the resale value. Go see what 6 cylinder camaros go for vs. 8.....all years. I bought my 2012 SS with 15K miles for 23K....TTL w/ extended 10 year bumper=bumper warranty. Once upon a time I had a police B4C Camaro just like yours....so don't hate on a Third gen....sell it and be glad it'll bring a little more because it's a Z28 whereas a 6 cyl version of it wouldn't fetch much. Incidentally, I shopped for a long time before I found my newest car at the price I wanted to pay...but good things come to people who wait.

The V6 is a great Camaro, but it seems you really want a V8, so I suggest waiting for the right one to come along.

Go on the LFX V-6 page and read the sticky thread' read this before buying a 2LS', it details all the differences that the 2LS package offers, or doesn't offer. Imo you can find a newer model for the same money. And 20,000 miles and under, all the Camaro's models are just getting broke in.

I am so sorry to hear that. I totaled a 95 Trans Am several years ago....I loved that car. It was a rare one too. But you know what they say, the best way to get over one is to get another one. I got a 2000 Z28. Back then I paid 8K for it when it was worth 12K. (Another example of waiting for the car I wanted at the price I wanted to pay.) It was a repo but an okay car---it broke a lot over the 7 years I owned it. I put a raptor transmission with a stall converter and made myself feel much better....much.
