This car spends it's life sitting in carlyle racings shop in Columbus.

The previous owner of the car was very active in this forum, but this owner is not on the forums

Man wish he was on here. I was hoping to take some advice and start on the chassis modifications.

Dumb question but when I look at gm performance it shows the copo crate engines at around 500 hp. That can't be right can it? Is there that much loss in power with independent rear. I know they also only weigh 3000 which help a ton!

Why not just call mark carlyle? And they're using a stock chassis on this car. The last time I was in his shop, he said they're going to be chasing the farks record with it

Chassis setup is everything. The power must be put to the ground, and properly. That takes shocks, springs, tires, etc. so that you can load it all and have it release in a controlled fashion. Start with shocks, the fronts should be a 80/20 so they extend easily and compress gradually keeping the front up transferring weight to the rear. The rear shocks should be adjustable as well so compression is smooth and just to the point were it does not "bottom" and bounce the tires loose. (the video here shows a run where the rears were slightly past ideal and they were tightened up next runs to an ideal transfer).

The tires are key as well, and most 20" large diameter wheels will not allow enough sidewall to also absorb, store, and release energy as well. Watch the Camaro tires to see this best in the first video.

Weight is always a factor as every 100#'s is a 10th of a second in the 1/4 mile with a door car.

All engine mounts, trans mounts, and rear suspension mounts also need to be stiff with little give as that is also lost energy.

SO many I read about making gobs of power but cannot put it to the ground properly.

My problem now with not many mods is bogging I don't like slipping the clutch a lot if I dump it quick, the car hooks awesome goes about 7 feet and falls on its nose. I have welds with 28x10 slicks no suspension mods yet. Just wondering if I should do the moser 9" or spend the money on the independent rear. For bracket racing I want to be as consistent as possible slipping the clutch Isnt very consistent at least not me doing it. I have also been thinking about a McLeod soft lock clutch set up so the clutch slip is consistent. I'm not trying to go for any records just a fast but consistent car.

Back problems aside... she never really intended to drive it after it got to a certain point. That was a whole lot of car for a rookie driver. She played team owner for a while, but it was costing a ton of money to keep going so she sold. Super nice person and I hope she's doing well these days.

Her last post was in 2013 but her last login was a couple weeks ago.
