Thinking bout about trading my Camaro for a 12' SRT jeep. Would like to get a new 16' ss, or 15 1LE but i don't want to deal with the winter in a sports car anymore 🙃.. Thoughts?

I had one years ago. Great suv, horrible gas mileage. Probably spend enough in gas to buy a beater for winter. I romp on it pretty good and averaged around 9mpg. There was 2 at the track last weekend. One running 12.6 the other 13.3

Yep. One cool SUV, but Hell on fuel. You have to run Premium, it weighs >5,000 lbs., AWD, 6.4L Hemi, etc.. It'd probably make more sense picking up a '12-'13 Chevy Cruze or Sonic as a DD in the end.

I had a '93 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.2l V8, this was back in the late 90's when gas was around $1.50...I remember crazy $ amounts for fill ups. I can't even imagine what a damned SRT version would be like.

Is a SUV a requirement?

Is a sedan a possibility?

The 2012 SRT8 Jeeps still have the old 5 speed automatic..the new ones have the 8 speed which helps fuel economy, but they're also pretty darn expensive, even used.

Have you considered a used SS Sedan? They're competent in the winter.

You have a lot of decent performance options with AWD other than a gas guzzling older Jeep. What is the ultimate goal? Big and "loud" (and expensive to fuel), or capable of winter driving with AWD?

Have you thought about getting some cheap rims and winter/snow tires for the Camaro? Would be a lot cheaper than your plan. You'll pay for the rims and tires in one year of extra fuel consumption with the Jeep.

If your looking used find a 2014 and up, they have the 8 speed ZF transmission it makes the old (2012-2013) 5 speed NAG 1 feel like a dinosaur, we will be ordering the wife a 2017 Jeep SRT Trackhawk next month when the order banks open up, should be a fun daily thrasher/weekend tow rig when we take the camaro out of state for events.

Been busy with work, the "goal" is big & loud haha. I have thought of a used 14-15 Chevy SS, but then I'll be in the same predicament I am now with the Camaro, RWD car for the winter.. Yes I do use winter tires, but once the snow gets piled up, I don't want to worry about driving in 5+ inches of snow. As for the 2014 SRT, it would be a bit out of my budget, as I would like to stay under the 45K mark

The newer Grand Cherokee are much nicer vehicles, in every way. I speak from experience after having a loaded rental for 2 weeks and doing a thousand miles in it. Despite it being the base V6 I was rather impressed with the vehicle in every way. I would imagine a large engine would buy it a bunch more in the fun department.

The older Cherokee, which I've only been a passenger a few times, were okayish at best in comparison. I personally wouldn't buy an older generation model.
