Got my after market headers removed but check engine is still on.

I got my aftermarket headers removed and my stock headers put back in but the check engine light is still on, I've driven it about 120 miles so far, is it supposed to just turn off on its own eventually?

edit* The aftermarket headers were stainless power and I have NPP exhaust right now. O2 sensors were swapped from long tubes to oem. The codes pulled from autozone were P0420 and P0430 repeated.

Update* CEL went away on its own after I drove it a little over 200 miles.

Ok first off let's start by telling the back story. What headers? Any catback? Did you remove any sensors? Did you have the car tuned? Did you pull the codes that tell you what was off?

Might clear on it's own after a while. Could try a fuse pull or a battery disconnect and see if it comes back...

You have to disconnect the battery...try disconnecting it overnight.

Clear the code with a code reader, or battery disconnect. Trouble with disconnect is you will lose any radio presets and all that kind of stuff, I think.

Or it will probably go away on it's own. The ECU will shut it off after x amount of successful system checks, not sure how many for emission faults on this car though.

did you ever read the code before you installed these headers??

normally after making repairs, you reset the light and see it if comes back. If yes, need to read the code.

the shop that installed the headers should have done this for you. if so, you need to read the code.

Step one: Disconnect your battery for at least 3 hours. Reconnect and see if the CEL has gone away. If not... go to Step Two (though I don't know what that would be).

If you had no cel with headers the car was tuned and rear sensors turned off. When you reconnected the rears sensors the cel is present. Tune needs to be put back to stock.
