Learn to love it because it is a direct result of the excellent braking on your 5th Gen SS.
The reason you read mixed reviews is because it is impossible to deliver the same level of braking with less dust. The dust is part pad and part rotor created from the friction of stopping. Less dust means less friction which means less stopping power. |

I agree with JP. I have the Hawk Ceramics. Low dust. No noise. But doesn't stop like the stock pads.

Ran Hawk HPS, dusted like crazy, stopped ok. Now have carbotech XP8s, stop like hell, but the dust is crazy and they are noisey as hell.
Like JP said, you get one or the other, so pick good stopping or low dust.

Not all types of brake pads, provide the same dust colour.
Food for thought. ; ) You may now begin your research, and then choose your poison. |

After swapping my rotors to some DBAs, I decided to get new pads as well. I first chose the carbotech AX6 pads, as recommended by DBA. They ended up squealing like no tomorrow when warm, but bit HARD, so hard in fact that my rotors wore down 1/32" - I can see a little lip on the outside of my rotor now.
For the second round, I picked up some Hawk Street 5.0 pads. These are medium dust pads that deliver stock performance (if not better) and are whisper quiet. All in all, after a couple months of ownership, I'd say they're a good replacement for your stockers. |

LMAO....I'm the king of downshifting, I love the snap crackle and pop the engine makes as you pull up to a light and watch other drivers tuck their tails like,"I'm not messin with THAT guy!!!

Same here. Switched to ceramic and have low dust now but it doesn't stop the same.
