Fake service date, and bill 2 months later...
Hello,
On May 3, 2016 I had my car in for a service vehicle soon light. Turns out it was from rear o2 sensors not being deleted after headers and tune. Dealership said the diagnostic was covered, gave me a receipt showing nothing was owed...2 months later, I get a bill from them with a service date of June 29, 2016. Seems really strange they are trying to Bill me 2 months later and making up dates of service. Seems extremely shady to me... |

I called them at 815 this morning. Service deptmartment said that she didn't think I should be charged and would talk to the accounts manager, and call me back within the hour...that was 4 hours ago, and still have not heard back from them.

Tuner is 5 hours away, and it was dyno tuned. That problem is already getting taken care of. The issue isn't about payment, the issue is creating fake documents/service appointment 2 months later after they told me there was no charge, and providing me an invoice that shows a 0 balance. I even received an email wanting to know how my service appointment was, and wanting me to fill out a survey for a service appointment that did not happen.

The dealer made a mistake not charging him at the time of service, and gave him an invoice showing "nothing owed" at that time. You just don't arbitrarily create a "new" invoice for a 2 month old service after deciding to charge for something that wasn't at the time. ![]() This runs borderline Unfair and Deceptive Acts and Practices (UDAP)!

If you came into the dealer and they did not authorize a diagnostic charge, they cannot legally charge you a diagnostic fee. It's as simple as that...
Whether they should have charged you at the time of service (they should've, but needed authorization first) is another question. To which the answer is yes. But they can't change their mind. Even if you went in, they said it was no charge, then they realized it was modified and needed to charge you, they could not have done that without first talking to you. At least that's how it works in CA, pretty sure all the states have that much of a common sense law. Ignore all the extra commas |
