Is this a good deal? Could use an enthusiast's opinion.
2010 LT1 V6
63,000 miles Never needed work done just maintenance and regular tune ups One owner(private seller) Needs cosmetic work estimated at $3500 at a shop, parts- est. $1,500 max If I bought it Id buy the parts and have a local school do the work (they dont charge for labor) Spotless interior, just missing volume knob. $8900 Is this good deal? It seems like it is to me but I want to confirm with you guys/gals Last edited by woundedcyborg; 07-03-2016 at 07:59 AM. Reason: Talked seller down from $9500 to $8900, low as they can go. |

No. You're looking at $14500 for a car that's going to have an accident on its record and it won't ever look 100% perfect. It would be better to buy one at that price that doesn't need the work.

Well the big dent on the right fender is from bumping into a tree in the winter.
The front dent is someone backing into it on a hill, Top frame dent above window is from a baseball. Car hasnt been in an accident the record remains clean. Dents are usually never 100% gone but they can be worked to 80-95% in the right hands. I just cant help but interpret this as a $14500 car id be getting for $9500 and some scuffs after repairs that i wont mind too much. Last edited by woundedcyborg; 07-03-2016 at 07:58 AM. |

You could probably take it to get quoted on how much paintless dent repair would be. Probably way less than replace/respray.
Any mechanical issues? Is the v6 what you want? Don't settle for it if you're really looking for a v8. |

I dont have a preference between the v6 and v8. The $3500 was for painted dent repair I know that, and the paint itself was $757 out of the $3500 estimate (seller showed me the estimate). The car hasnt needed anything yet and runs perfectly. Been maintained and tuned like clockwork.
Im no mechanic, I work on my own vintage motorcycle as problems arise so I know a bit but not enough as I'd like, definitely around cars. But boy was the engine clean, or maybe I'm used to my 36 year old engine ![]() In the shop estimate labor was $80/hr totaling $1680/21hrs. But there are local schools I could take the car too where I just pay for parts+paint and they will fix without labor costs. Only draw back is they will have the car for a month+ which sucks but wouldn't effect me much since I have my motorcycle to rely on. I could replace the fenders myself I'm thinking but the paint and dents will probably have to be done by someone else. Last edited by woundedcyborg; 07-03-2016 at 07:51 PM. |

Yes sir. Free work. Its a school, i have friends of the family that use them since they have multiple cars so one missing for a month isnt a big deal. Comes back just as good as the shop (or atleast i would say), as all work is supervised
