Hmm...Camaro XFE:
- tall gears...it's enough just to give it wider ratios, don't need to give it a tall rear end
- low rolling resistance tires -- they don't need to be narrow to be LRR
- maybe some aero mods, but I'm not sure what. In-glass FM antenna instead of a whip? Block unnecessary portions of grille? Wheel air deflectors?
- warm air intake (as I understand, GM trucks have an intake that switches between warm and cold air depending on need; such a system is easy enough and could help)
- for automatics, aggressively locking torque converter and economy shift points with a selectable power program for when you want to go fast
- some tuning that optimizes for fuel economy without reducing total available power; it might have more aggressive DFCO, make throttle response more linear (instead of putting all the power in the first 10% of the pedal), and the DI V6 could run lean more often (since AFAIK it already runs extremely lean at times)
- AFM on the V6 with the manual transmission, programmed aggressively

It could be done without sacrificing power or fun, but it may be too much to ask from the marketing department, too dissonant to have a Camaro made specifically to save gas.

Don't see that happening for a while, Give it 5 years

The first rule of modding something that's not American is to not try to compete with modded V8 cars that are American. Really, they can run insane power with little investment. It's not even a fair fight.

If the V8 gets NEW EPA numbers in at 28MPG then I don't care about city too much because right now that is my main driving and will be for a long time to come. If the 8 gets 28, I'd be ALL SMILES!!!!

BUT, if the V6 can do mid 14's in the 1/4 and hit 30mpg while hitting 20mpg in the city I might still go with the V6 while a 430HP V8 making 28mpg would be hard to pass up.

If I can save on city and highway (needs to beat new EPA of 16/22) then, dare I say it, the Camaro would make sense since I then would save all around on fuel.

I'm watching the ticker like a 9th grade teenage girl waiting to go to the prom with the senior HS quarterback....LOL!

LOL!!!!!

You know really what my biggest concern is? When do you think I might be able to get my car? I could probably meet you somewhere and pick it up if that would help. I have been to Canada before so that would not be a problem.

Give it a few days and when it's released, THEN ask what you like versus dislike. Shoot...we still don't even know when it's going to be released.

Remember, the 'Vert and "Top Dawg" models will be released MONTHS later than the "base" version.

Save your requests until after you see the "Base Version" in all it's reality.

You ~might~ be able to influence the final version of the 'Vert and 'Dawg. If your nice, and constructive-like.

I just don't want my V6 to look like a little B****
I hope they make it different than the V8, but I really hope that they don't take too much from the appearance of the car. That's my only deal breaker, besides an under-25k price for the v6 as long as it has the LLT

God, I hope so. Let's hope it wasn't simply because of what Bush said about drilling in our homeland. If not, they'll continue to go up just because the investors or "guessers" want it to. Hopefully, it'll drift back down a buck...OR THREE!!!

You probably saw this...I'm not to pleased with the interior nor the weight and HOPE TO GOD it's the SS that weighs that much.

How good can it be with gas weighing that much?

With these new photos, I'm concerned that the Camaro is too badass for its own good. GM should produce a warning sticker that remains on the car warning passengers of its sheer badassery so that they are not completely caught off guard by the badass power, badass handling, and badass appearance (if they couldn't tell already).
