All those coolers look kind of goofy (and yes I know they are necessary and functional- I swear to God if someone quotes me about that I will rip your trachea out). What are the two smaller ones for?

Well there's always the standard goofy 3...radiator, trans and oil coolers.

Saw the car at Summit (looks even better in person) and they said they just recently added an oil cooler and power steering fluid cooler (correct me if I heard wrong)

I guess I'm just curious because they seem to be aftermarket, and if that IS the case....where can we get these kits ?

The large lower unit is the inter-cooler, the small two line cooler mounted to it i a supplemental power steering cooler and the large upper engine oil cooler is fed by -12 lines. This is a robust installation more typical of a race car than a street car. We felt it was required because of the abuse the car receives as we validate different suspension components.

The Pedders USA Camaro is ProCharged. Having observed several different FI vehicles on the track I can safely say that engine oil temps exceed 300 degrees in as little as three hot laps. The factory cooler may be adequate for factory HP, but it is too small for a FI engine making more than 500 RWHP.

GM did a spectacular job with the integration of the power steering cooler into the AC condenser. If you take a really close look at your AC condenser you will notice the lower three veins are thicker than the rest of the unit. Those three veins are the PS cooler. We run 19 x 10.5 rims with 305/30 rubber all the way around. Our concern is that the increased load on the rack and pump will raise the temperature to unacceptable levels. Our solution is to run our cooler in series with the OEM cooler.

The installation of the coolers was complicated by the ProCharger inter-cooler. We had to aluminum weld brackets on all three: Oil, PS and ProCharger. Running the lines was another challenge. Plastic tie wraps fail over time from heat and wear. We wanted a more robust installation without a single tie wrap. Eric from Backstreet installed Adel Clamps with hardware to bolt them to solid members of the vehicle. Eric went so far as to install a check valve in the oil cooler to make certain the oil would not drain out of the cooler and back into the oil pan. He did a race-ready installation that is next to perfect. That is a problem at Backstreet that I tell them about every time I schedule work there. I only pay for excellent and they perform perfect. It is bad for their profit margin, but great for the consumer and Backstreet's reputation. Thanks to Backstreet, the Pedders USA Camaro is now ready for a track session with a couple of magazines and unlimited testing.

John Buttermore Jr. has run a 1:27.53 in practice at Gingerman in his C6 T1 SCCA Vette. That is a bit better than the Race Lap Record in T1 of 1.27.62. I wonder could a Pedderised Camaro run BETTER lap times with four people in the car? Maybe with a race car driver like Stan Wilson or Chris Brannon, myself and two lovely ladies? A typical night on the town passenger load for a 2010 Pedderised Camaro DAILY DRIVER against a RACE READY, lightened, caged FULL RACE Vette on race slicks with only a driver... Could it beat the fastest time on record for a Vette? Nah, no one would be foolish enough to try that... would they????

If some one were to take a run at that they would need serious oil coolers, great suspension, strong RWHP, light weight wheels, sticky street tires and great brake pads.
