I'm sorry to hear that! :(

Don't panic. They can be removed. It's just finding out how.

Seeing as it sounds like they're a little deeper since Z-5 didn't work, the next step is to try a more aggressive polish. I use '3M Finesse-It" to tackle deeper scratches. You might want to try and locate this. I've found it a NAPA. If you know of a good body shop in your area, they may have it, or recommend a similar product.

DON'T SWEAT IT! I know how terrible it is to get scratches, etc., especially in new cars, but it happens. :( It'll only become permanent if you do nothing.

Try the 3M and lets see how that works.

Please keep in touch and let me know. We'll get you through this!

Anyway, there are small scratches going down the car maybe 6-8 inches long. You have to look at the car in certain anles to see it but I know they are there.

I tried putting both Z polishes on there and it did not remove

Can you recommend anything to remove these? Do I have a time frame I need to get them removed before they are permanant?

Thanks.

Thanks Ed. I'm literally sick to my stomach.

If I can't find the stuff you are talking about is there another one you recommend that I can get at a local store? AutoZone, Walmart?

Zaino makes a tire product also. BeWare though, it gets on car covers and they you need to be very careful not to drag it on the car :( It doesn't stain, just needs to be wiped off - I use the Z6 spray. I put on 2 coats, per the instructions, and the tires look great!

I hope you feel better! I can sympathize, but IT WILL BE OK.

A product I've also tried with success is;

3M 'Scratch Remover', which I've found at WalMart.

Ed,

I found the 3m Finesse at NAPPA. I tried two coats on that area with no success. Now that area seems to be faded a bit. I think Im just making it worse!!

Regarding the "fading", that happens when I use the 3M as well...I go back over the area with Zaino, and it's "good as new".

Now those marks; I've had marks in cars which sound similar to your description, and I've literally spent 1/2 hr. on each one, going over it more, with 3M until it disappeared. Followed up with Zaino, you'd never know the mark was there.

At this point I see several options;

1. Go back and try using the 3M again, using moderate pressure.
2. Consider a rubbing compound
3. Visit a body shop and have them look at the marks.

Its hard to really know unless I see them, but your description that they're only seen at certain angles leads me to belive that they can be removed by hand.

I've been able to remove some fairly deep scratches, by hand, going over the area (along the line of the scratch) as many times as needed, using 3M with moderate pressure. Following with Zaino, you'd be hard pressed to find the scratch.

Ok a few questions, you said to use Z-5 on the door inserts where it is colored, what is a good way/product to use on the dash materials. Also I just got my car and it rained the day after I got it…I am waiting on my zaino kit to get here what can I do just to get the rain spots off it until I can wash it for real with my zaino kit, Should I just mist some water on it and dry it or what? I am also looking to get a really good random orbital buffer do you have any that you recommend? I also wanted to thank you and everyone in this thread for taking time to answer questions and helping noobs like me out! Thanks everyone!

Great stuff in here....sounds like I'm about to hit up Zaino's site!

I do have a question pertaining the drying towels. I use tons of liquid fabric softener in all that I wash, is this bad/harmful to the towels? I know they "feel" so soft, but I was just wondering if it actually would do/leave anything in the fabric that wouldn't be good over time on the paint.
-Thanks

Hey Bobby!

Meguires offers some very good proucts. I used Meguires prior to switching to Zaino for my cars. I will still use Meguires for customers who want to pay a little less for their detailing.

As for Klasse, I've never tried their products.

For your car, I'd suggest applying a good quality wax/polish. If its going to be your daily driver, do this at least every 6 months. It sounds like youve good all the proper items.

Hi.

On the dash, personally, on a brand new car, I'd dampen a microfibre towel with some luke warm water, and wipe the dash. I've tried Turtle Wax Ice Total Interior also and like the results.

For the water spots, assuming youre referring to the paint, use a good quality car wash for the time being, ie; Meguires. Once your Zaino arrives, Id recommend switching to the Zaino Car Wash.

As for a random orbital buffer. Porter Cable makes a good one. I think the model is #7427 but Im not sure. I have one, but I do not use it fo applying Zaino. Zaino recommends you apply their prducts by hand.

I'd recommend NOT using fabric softener next time you wash your drying towels. This is taken from Zainos site: "When washing your towels. Only use Liquid detergent such as All or Tide, etc. Do not use Bleach, Powdered Detergents or any kind of fabric softener. They will leave a chemical residue on the towels which will transfer to your paint finish. Make sure to run rinse cycle twice to remove all detergent."

Hey Ed thank you for the tip I did that my call looks good for now waiting for my Zaino's kit to get here. I do have another question though. when it comes to drying the car I tried to fold it and just drag it didn't seem to work to well any help there would be good. Also How many towels should you have to dry the car? Should I use one mitt to wash or should I have three one for each side of the car and then one for the wheels? Thanks again for all the help and time!
