15 minutes of ranting on why a V6 is still as big a phalanx extension as a V8 and why anyone that doesn't think so is nuts?

That's as funny as the guy he was talking about.

I don't understand why V6 owners feel the need to rant and rave trying to justify their purchase.

I mean really, most people don't care that you didn't get a V8 and if you like it, you like it. Why do you need validation?

It seems to me that a lot of V6 owners do the following.

- Buy v6 camaro
- Immediately start justifying why
- Start posts asking about how to add power and make it louder to sound like a V8
- Cosmetically modify the car to make it look like a higher tier model and complain when people call them on it
- Start posts complaining that v8 owners don't give them the props they think they deserve and complain about perceived slights
- Start posts second guessing their purchase
- Trade in for an SS

Please break the cycle.

I wouldn't have bought a Camaro if I couldn't get at least the SS Ill readily admit if I could afford it Id be driving ZL1 or Z28, but that's me. If your happy with the v6 then that's all that matters some people just enjoy cruising and the extra performance doesn't matter. One thing Ive learned with experience especially if your gonna have a car payment buy it right the first time.

V6 / 4cylinder

I bought V6 because it was just shy of $6,000 off. Say what you want buy $$$ talks. The other car available was also v6 but with RS package. I took the best deal. That's more important to me with paying off all student debt and other debt. But then again feeling the NEED to be REAL who cares right, its only money! Hell I moved out of apartments and bought an RV to cutback on costs and its already paid for itself in doing so the past year.

Now of course V8 is king, awesome. V6 was still a lot of fun to drive. Now when I see the 4 cylinders priced how they're it looks crazy. But someone asked what would it take to get you into a 4 cylinder? And let the mpg get up to about 40 and I'll go test drive one haha

TLDR:

If you have a narrow minded view point of V8 or nothing, you're missing the point on too many other variables to be taken realistically. The cars awesome, but in the grand scheme of things it's not worth setting my life style back 20 years on a depreciating asset.

Your automatic is just fine.......nobody seems to say squat to me in person. Most of the guys chirping you are the ones sitting on the line wondering wtf just happened. Roll racing was invented by manual drivers that cant launch their cars hard......which is alot. Ive been driving manuals for over 30 years and it still makes me laugh when somebody yaps about it being more manly. This should add some spice to the recipe.

V6 vs V8, auto vs manual, catch cans and CAIs. Like a herpees outbreak, every couple of months, we go thru this nonsense and discuss the same, tired subjects. A few smartass comments, a few trolls and a few hurt feelings. Instead of BSing about nonsense, go enjoy your Camaros and stop wasting perfect summer evenings being keyboard warriors

Don't beat yourself up for your choice. Peer pressure and/or insecurity will compromise your ownership experience. If you made a conscious decision (that only you can make) to buy a v6 camaro, then stick with it. If friends are giving you grief about your car then you should re-think maintaining those friendships.

Mistakes happen, however. If you thought that you'd be happy with the v6, but you've changed your mind for a v8, then you can fix the situation. Again I say, think it through. If you think life will be better with a v8 then I say go for it.

The only other piece of advice I can give you is to not make a purchase decision based on someone else's opinion. If you are buying the car for yourself, you must be clear and totally committed to your choice. You can have a great ownership experience with any car as long as you are making the decision about it.

I don't think a manual is more manly, but it's definitely more fun to drive in my opinion. I've had several musclecars with both manual and autos and I prefer the manual for everything except bracket racing and bumper to bumper traffic.

I definitely wish I had an auto when I want to get off the line quick. I hate knowing that I'm destroying the clutch everytime I want to take off aggressively. But the other 90% of the time, the manual is way more fun since I'm not at the track.

Back to the original post. I think the only V6 guys here replying would be the one's who wish they bought the V8. Otherwise, they should not care and just drive.
This summers been awesome so far. Enjoy those gears RonTammy..... and your auto
