I recently sold my 1979 Z28 with a V8 and 180 whopping hp. My 2015 1LT has over 150 more hp with its V6! I'm soon to be 57 and that's more than enough to get in trouble with!

well, why didn't I get a V8? it's really kind of simple, I didn't want one. 323 HP is plenty enough for me. there are precious few opportunities to use the extra 90HP of the V8 without getting tickets or in an accident. I drive a commercial vehicle for a living, so too many, or too severe of a ticket could also cost me my job. don't need to loose my license, it goes towards insure ability. on top of that, I'm 43, not a 20 yr old who's craving thrills and excitement. fun and power are nice, but my cieling is lower than it was 20 yrs ago. and lastly, the money. yes, I could have easily afforded the V8 if I had wanted. the wife and I are pulling down six figures, kids are grown (started at 19) and all but one out of the house, and only have 9 years left on the house I bought in '94. but my preference now is exotic vacation in the Caribbean, and an early retirement. I'd much rather put the money I would have spent on a higher payment, higher insurance, and higher maintenance/cost of ownership the 8 has in my 401 than into a depreciating asset. my primary goal now is to retire at 60 or so and not work till the day I die, or be waiting at the mailbox for a government check. not have the fastest car on the road. different strokes for different folks.

I heard someone say, use your money for memories instead of material things, we'll I didn't take that advice but it's great advice.
I loved my 1LT. Over 300 HP was good enough for me ![]() Till I drove my friends 1LE and loved the handling and the torque so much I had to buy this: ![]() So, since we all love our camaro, it doesn't really matter what engine you have, as long as you have one and you're happy, that's all that matters. But....I started looking at the C7 recently and maybe I could get just a little more happier...it never ends. ![]() ![]() FIRE-EMS-Tundra-Club Member #88 |

If C5 deleted all the threads by v6 guys complaining about people asking why they didn't get a V8 or trying to justify their purchase their thread count would probably be cut in half. STOP CARING SO MUCH ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK OR SAY, AND PLEASE, STOP USING THE INTERNET TO HELP JUSTIFY YOUR PURCHASE. This horse has been beat, butchered, frozen, thawed, eaten, and crapped out.

I think if 6 cylinder motors didn't have such a generally poor legacy from the inline sixxes of the 1960's when the first round of muscle car interest came about, that it wouldn't be such a hot-button topic today.
With only a few exceptions, these older-gen sixxes put out barely over 100 HP, some of them barely 100 gross. To take them much past 4000 rpm was to be cruel. Today's sixxes (300+ net HP, 7000 rpm) deserve far more respect. Norm

People buy V6s because that is what suits them on many levels. Price, power, etc. GM is not stupid. In fact, they now offer a turbo 4 cylinder. Why? Because they will SELL. People want choices, and it's always good to have choices. The V8s are there if people want to move up. Plus, if everyone had a V8, it wouldn't make my SS stand out as much. Differences make the world go round.

I had a base model v6
a 1LS with nothing extra No nav, no sunroof, no HUD and no extra power. True the LFX is a great platform to work on but it is very limited compared to the LS3 or even the L99. I wanted for a while the 1LE. And when I had a chance to get one I did. I told my wife that this is a car I want my kids to see me work on. I want my kids to have it in the future (after I've had my fun of course) but at the of the day get what you want and most importantly get what you can afford. If I had the opportunity I would have gotten the ZL1 because why not. Hopefully this car will be with me for a long time. That's why I at least traded in my 6 to get my V8.
