Question Underhood insulation - to be or not to be?

Hello Guys and Gals,
Sorry for this maybe dumb question, just can't figure it out:

I didn't have any underhood insulator when I bought this car (2SS trim) and never bothered to buy one.
Now the TX heat and recent cam swap brought this question again to me.

Do you know if the OEM under hood insulation improve anything in terms of heat exchange? Would it bring any improvements or it just for noise suppression and protection against the dust?

Any thoughts and suggestion are most welcome!

Thank you All

I believe OEM is just for noise suppression, I could be wrong. If I was you I would get the OEM hood insulation just to protect the paint.

I think it's also to help put out a fire in the event one ignited in the engine bay? I think it's supposed to fall on the engine or something.

Could be wrong though, but it does help cut down on sound

Thank you All, I was thinking about protecting the paint too. Noise is not a concern but after headers install I can hear every valve's movement )) or at least I have the impression. Not a concern though - I like that sound. So I think it won't hurt if I get the OEM. Trigger has been pulled )

Thanks again!

Good deal, ordered through my dealership and the cost is $60 for the insulator itself and set of retainer clips (25). Local pickup worked the best as the shipping cost was about $130 (the cheapest one).
Thought this information can help to someone with similar question.
