Uhuh no way, if Chevy is trying to say it doesn't look like factory welds they are trying to get out of the repair bill, I mean really they actually said the welds didn't look like factory?? Did the guy get down there under your car and compare the welds to a dozen other GM cars to verify the welds? I mean really? Most welds are hard to distinguish between a factory weld and a non factory weld, what made it not look like a factory weld? and they actually said that it voided the no rust warranty? That's bullshit? because what, factory welds somehow prevent the frame from rusting?? And somehow a aftermarket weld mysteriously ended up on a vehicle that there's no record of being wrecked and repaired and the frame re welded or some other BS and because of that the cars frame is rusting and the warranty is voided? You really should go online and research their rust warranty and see if there's any mention of something like that voiding the warranty?? I bet if you told them your going to get a lawyer and a professional automotive inspector to inspect the frame and welds and then you'll sue the hell out of them when the expert verifies the welds are the factory welds, and that the car was not wrecked and hadn't been re welded or repaired in any way, if you pester them and threaten them then they will probably get your car fixed just to shut you up, if not let them know your not a pushover and that your not going away until they fix your beloved Camaro, it may take a little work and time but if you keep at it then you should get results but do it now before it gets too far away from the time you purchased the car and further from the warranty period or closer to the end of the warranty

BAT SHIT!
That's what a friend used to call crappy looking welds. LOL. Here's some pics of the bat shit welds on my 2014. No two alike! Obviously hand MIG welded by low cost labor, probably in Saltillo or similar industrial destinations. As you can see, there is no or little consistency among the welds. I would bet that comparing two cars made in different year models, you would see vast differences in weld style and interruptions. You guys that think his and my welds are not factory OEM, go look at your garage queens with known pristine histories. Show all homework please. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Im just happy my 2014 still looks brand new underneath, it looks almost like when it came from the showroom,, so does the engine compartment and everything else... Man maybe I should pull it up on the ramps and take another look? Winter and snow is coming and they salt the roads heavy here with all the snow but even with that we don't see much more then a little surface rust on our other vehicles, not really rust but more like rust colored dust that wipes off or comes off with a heavy spray or power washer, But as for the Camaro, we don't drive Baby in the winter when there is snow and salt on the roads, she stays home under an all weather heavy duty car cover, we don't have a garage to keep her in but I thought about one of those free standing dome car tents like a portable garage? I really hope you'll be able to get GM to fix your Camaro, it doesn't matter what model or version it is, it's a CAMARO!!!!! and they are all awesome and don't deserve rusty frames and a GM rep discounting your cars rust warranty because hey are being cheap bastards

Oh boy, okay, so I went to the auto-body shop and I guess they either didn't want to do it or were too busy so they sent me to a shop across the street. The original shop said the other place was really good and that they wouldn't recommend them if they weren't.
Went to the second shop and they didn't have a lift available. They said they could fix it, but that I should take it back to Kia to have them deal with it. I went to Kia and before talking to the used sales manager I talked with their service department and without explaining that I bought the vehicle from them, I showed them the pictures and asked them if it was safe. One of their service manager guys told me it wasn't, so that's all I needed to hear. I talked with the original sales guy (Mike) who eventually had to get another guy involved (I hadn't seen this guy before). The new guy said he was the manager for used car sales and that the vehicle had passed two safety inspections. I said it had, but having a rusted frame like that isn't safe and it needed to get fixed. He asked what I wanted to do and I said get a new frame and install, or if you guys can fix it that will work too. I know it would cost them way more money to do the frame and honestly from what I've heard cutting out the rust and welding new pieces in seems like a safe alternative to me, so I think I'm going that route. Technically, the car did pass specific criteria for a safety inspection so I couldn't have said they legally failed to find the vehicle unsafe. Switching topics back to the Chevy dealership, the guy looked at some paint around the hood and noticed it didn't look right. I am posting pictures. I noticed this when I bought it, but it wasn't a big deal to me since I know no car is generally 100% perfect. I didn't necessarily equate this with an accident. I honestly don't believe that the tech at Chevy was trying to not do the repairs, he seemed like he was really genuine in what he was saying and there were two other managers and like 5 techs looking at it as well who all seemed to agree with him. |

Eww, what the heck?! That don't look good either. I would demand your money back. It has had some paint work and now can see why Chevy denied this, and it is on the passenger side, paint is actually lifting there which leads me to poor prep work. You need to go back to Kia, demand them to take it back. Seriously! They sold you a car that you thought was never in an accident and it clearly has had some work done to it. I would not settle on a repair to the sub frame either. Just do it, and see what they say. Do us a favor and take a picture of the gap line where the fender meets the door, and under the hood where the fender is bolted on.

Yeah, that's definitely repair work on the paint. That frame looks factory to me. I'm guessing a prior owner drove the car on the beach. Look at all the white residue on and around the frame.

I already talked to a few people about them taking the car back and most agreed that wouldn't happen.
The JAG lawyer I talked to said legally there isn't much that can be done because I bought the car as-is with no warranty. Kia had a clean carfax and maybe they did see the paint damage or they didn't, but I did and I still knowingly bought the car. Did I make a mistake? It seems like it, but I can't throw it all at their feet. |

I would park it at the Kia dealership until I got a phone call with a offer to take it back. Sorry seems extreme, but that is just me. Would you mind telling us what you paid for it?

Being that it's sold as -is I think your in a tough spot . I know this must be tough and your not wanting to hear criticism but why in the world would you buy a newer camaro ss on a used as -is condition without a warranty . That seems incredibly foolish and risky on a newer sports car because now you have virtually no recourse, it's like buying a car at an auction. You could have atleast paid a local mechanic to do his own unbiased inspection for a very small fee before signing off on it . Sorry about your luck and I hope it works out

I bought it for 22800 after tax. Now, yes, that is high, but I live in Hawaii and finding automatic Camaro's isn't the easiest thing in the world to do.
![]() KBB was 21500 and that's what I got pre-tax. |

I'd be lying if I said that didn't look fun....
![]() So I think the previous owner was a lady, no idea on age. I know this because I setup my Bluetooth a few hours ago and it said 'Susanne's Phone'. |
