It may be a simple matter of 1) marketing and 2) durability concerns.

First, GM WANTS you to buy a ZL1 for $15,000 more, not buy the SS and add $2,500 in a calibration.

Second, without a hardware upgrade to the engine internals, a 40 or 50 HP bump will cause more engines to fail. Not a lot, but statistically more. I don't think GM pays money to give away free engine internals capable of HP increases. That being said, many people on this website have added forced induction to the LS3 and not blown things up. So GM may simply not want to do this for that reason alone. They did it with the 2.0T (not sure if it's still available) and maybe they had enough field evidence to not go this route.

But I agree this is something GM should tinker with.

New ZR1? Could this hold a Z/28 powerplant?

I'm thinking it's the Z06 with the upgraded cooling. It makes no sense to throw more power at a chassis you already said was at the limit with 650 hp.

My guess is that car's hp figure starts with an 8 and middle number is less than 6. And not an engine for a Z/28

There's a new fascia, new taller hood, new wheels with blue calipers and signs of a rear wing. That's too many changes for it to be a Z06.

If the Z/28 has a ZR1 Powertrain then get ready for a price of significant size.

And if someone says it can only handle 650 HP............don't believe them.

With the ZL1 info being released Monday, I bet a round of beer for the house that we see the Z/28 at the 50th.

I was trying to go but we got swamped at work. Any plans I had for taking time off were put on hold.

I really really really really HATE Fox Sports!!!

No notice again on not broadcasting the Weathertech race as they've advertised. I don't have FS2 (not available).

Oh and what for? Woman's golf...really!

IMSA it's time to move on to another cable network!
