I was very close to the purchase of an A5 last fall (actually, would have bought one last spring but decided to wait and drive the new A4 first) when the US economy went haywire. Under the circumstances, my country needs me more than I need an automobile with slightly better fit and finish. I will be buying American.

I here ya brother...I wish most folks were as smart as us CATS from Kentucky...

This country might be in better shape.

A5 is a nice car, its a looker no doubt, but its lines are no sexier than the Camaro, its performance is not as good, and its cheaper/easier to mod/work on...for me it was an easy choice...plus, I had to follow my heart, I'm no pimp, I'm a muscle car fan, plain and simple.

The S5 is a much sexier car imo. Where the first impression of the Camaro might be more exciting, that always wears off, the S5 only builds appreciation for its subtle genius.

The S5 is gorgeous, classy and more refined than the Camaro, there is no real comparison on paper IMO, S5 wins in majority of the categories

the camaro outperforms the audi in both price and performance, barly in performance but better no the less. but the audi is bigger inside, more comfortable, more options, more practical, and better quality all around the car.

i would like to see a audi rs4 vs camaro ss . altho not in the same price range they both toss out simular performance numbers.
One thing not mentioned is the maintenance and total cost of ownership for the Audi will be significantly more than the Camaro. Something else to consider.

I guess that depends on your taste, I dont think it looks nearly as good as the Camaro.

The SS looks way better on the outside. However, the Audi does put it to shame interior wise though. Gotta say though, that's a weird placement for all the electronic controls. It's a smart placement in a sense, but I think I'd feel more comfortable with all the radio controls near the actual radio lol.

They are both damn good looking cars IMO, GM would have to go out of business for me to get one though.

lol Actually after you spend a good chunk of time in an Audi, you wonder why other companies actually put those controls all the way on the center stack.

The theory is that you can control everything in the car while using the arm rest.... and it works really well.

It's got me thinking about how would a SS stack up against the S5?
They are in totally different price ranges, but performance wise not that far apart.
Judging by the specs I looked up, it looks like the SS wins in a straight line and in the curves, what do you guys think?

2009 Audi S5
Curb Weight, lbs. 3737
Horsepower @ rpm. 354 @ 6800
'Ring Time: 8:26

2010 Camaro SS M6
Curb Weight, lbs. 3860
Horsepower @ rpm. 426 @ 5900
'Ring Time: 8:20
Curves? NO WAY. Not even close, despite the fact that Audis are PIGS in the curves (excepting R8). The only reason the Camaro has better 'ring time is that 2.0 MILE straight.
