the race? 0-60 mph has been a standard used for decades on the street to compare performance.
The track or 1/4 mile is a different story.
tweaking? again another topic. ALL can be tweaked.

You were the one that brought up the comparison. I'm fully aware of what the standard is......didn't seem like the old iron was given much credit. When you posting your comparison on 0 to 60 it's spanning 46 years. So if tweaking means bringing the old iron up to grade using today's tech....like tires ...etc ....well I guess thats tweaking. Considering it's 46 years of technology between the cars I think it's OK.
Now we can get back on topic.

Mine became a three way race when flashing blue & red lights appeared in my rearview mirror... at that point I decided that I might as well finish it.

Hockey? we heard Hamilton wanted an NHL team but it was denied because then Toronto would want one too.

I think I would have been happy with the V6. A V6 1LE package would be awesome. V6 seems like a fun/rewarding platform to modify. I also really like OEM turbo'd cars, I'd bet the T4 will be a great tuner platform.

I was going to buy a Japanese rally bred tin can with a boosted 4 banger.

Got sucked into the 5th gen because it reviewed so well, especially the 1LE. I like cars that can get on a road course and do really well. I'm worried however, that now I have the 1LE, it is expected to do well. I like the underdog vibe, to be underestimated then outperform expectations is a good feeling.

My last "fun" car was a Mazdaspeed3. I can't tell you how much fun I had crushing egos in that FWD hatchback. It was a good package and EASY to drive at the limit and past. The cool guys that I passed would come up and ask me what the hell did I do to the car. Vette guys were less likely to take it well, I don't know why. One Vette guy bitterly said to me "I can't believe I got beat by a crossover". It's the driver dude, corvettes and similar high (potential) sports cars are harder to drive at a rapid pace. The most butthurt though were a couple of Subaru STi drivers that had maxed out boltons and meth injection with 400+awhp. And me with my 255whp FWD car made short work of them on a tight track. The mazda wasn't THAT great, but man you could do the stupidest crap in that car on the track and not die like you would in many other faster cars.

One of the coolest guys was all grins to look at my silly grocery getter after our track encounter at Texas World Speedway (a horsepower track for sure). He had a 2000 Cobra R, and couldn't wrap his head about the power differences etc and how well the mazda worked.

These were just track days, so not real racing. Huge variance in driver skill and willingness to really push their cars to the limits. Safe passing rules, etc.

Now I'm the guy that is going to get dusted by a "lesser" car with a better driver. I'm ok with that I am loving the V8 noise. But effing hell this is a heavy car. Going to be expensive wear on tires and brakes if I track it much. I might stick to bikes for track work after all..

I do have a target of 1.29 to beat at Harris Hill, that's what I got the Mazda to there so I HAVE to beat it in the 1LE

The V6 has more hp per liter than an LS3 or L99. Now we are at 19.
