We don't have personal property tax up here.
But are property & school taxes are high.

Looking at your choice of houses, are you OK with living pretty far away from the actual city of Syracuse?
Because 3 of those choices are pretty far out.

Conquest and West Monroe will be a haul to Syracuse, especially if you have to do it everyday for work.
Sennet is better.
Camillus is a suburb of Syracuse and an easy commute into the city.

Where exactly in the Syracuse area will you be working?

Something else to consider, Conquest and West Monroe get a TON of snow during the winter. I mean a TON!!!
That's lake effect country up there.

Also, the houses in Conquest, West Monroe, and Sennet won't have public water or public sewer, and maybe not even cable, if that matters to you.

Drive into work, good question. I'm 50 miles from work now (I know we don't have snow to deal with), and sometimes takes two hours to get home. The one in Conquest is supposedly 36 miles from work. I'll be working pretty much where 481 and 690 meet. Eastern Syracuse.
I'm on a well down here, with septic. I've lived with city water for a few years, and would rather not have that again,,, ever. Cable? We've been without cable for a while. But, internet,, that's another story. If we have to go dish for internet, it would suck, but it's sort of expected actually. I hate neighbors, have 12 cars, two trailers, tractor, bobcat, implements, etc.... Yeah, city life aint for me.

WTF, have you ever been to West Monroe? I live in Hastings which is on the west side of 81, West Monroe is on the east side. I can be in Downtown Syracuse in less than 30 minutes. We even have OCWA water and Time Warner Cable up here, although we still only have a two holer in the backyard. Hell we even got a Walmart Supercenter up here in the sticks. It's also private and quiet and no hassles about loud race motors.

Check out Liverpool as it is central located to all highways. Very open market from high end homes to mid level homes. Whatever you do stay away from Syracuse northside, southside and west sides of Syracuse unless you like to eat cats and see driveby's lol.

So you'll be working in East Syracuse, which is in the Town of Dewitt.
Given that, and that you want to be a little more rural, look at houses in Minoa, Kirkville, and Chittenango.
Should be able to find what you're looking for in those areas and still be relatively close to work.

I had co-workers that lived in West Monroe.
Took wayyy too long for my liking to get there.

Plus that's banjo country up there.

This is CNY. If I can't get to work within 20 minutes, I'm either getting a new job or moving.

UpstateC5 Drive the Glen - Sept 24

Well, it's getting to that time of year again. Laps and karts. Our best bet at doing laps this year is Saturday Sept. 24th. There's also a good possibility of getting Art to come out and drive the pace car (some of you know what I mean). For anyone who has not done this we meet at gate 2 at the track around 11:00 to sign waivers and pay the $25 fee to run 3 laps at noon. If 10 cars or more it's $15. These are 3 paced laps, no passing, no burnouts, no idiotic stunts. With Art behind the wheel of the pace car the speeds will be what most of us can handle. After that, we will head over to Seneca Grand Prix and ride the go-karts, provided we can get that set up. Ususally $20 for 2 10 minute sessions behind the wheel. Then if you want, we can go back over to the track and do the 5:00 run. What I need now is an idea who is interested for what. please post your poison - Noon laps, go karts, 5:00 laps. No need to PM me, just post here so we can give them an idea of the head count.

Believe it or not, as tax happy as NY is, there are no PP taxes on vehicles, although reg fees are somewhat based on value and you have to pay 2 years at a time. For example, my ZL1 with personalized tags is about $180 for 2 years. But as I mentioned before, they nail you on real estate.

I'm in for the noon laps, maybe on karts, no for the 5:00 run.
