Full Sized Spare for 1LS.

So there are all of these threads out there for mods and attempting to fit a full sized spare or even a smaller non-full sized spare in the SS. After reading probably 7 threads on the subject, I saw nothing about anyone asking about whether a full sized spare tire could fit in a 1LS?

My 1LS has the smaller 18' Heritage Wheels, so it's not an SS 20' inch OEM wheel. Most of the spares fitting in the SS's from what I can tell are 18' inches and do fit in the wheel well.

So do people know if this just works? Or would a full sized spare 18' Heritage wheel be too tall or too wide for the wheel well? If it's only too tall I could modify it to fit with only like 1-2 inches poping out, but if it's too wide, I guess it would probably require cutting out the well wall to make it fit.

My Camaro is a daily driver btw, and I plan to go across country with it in a week with my wife and 2 little girls so I need a spare. Looking for a solution. I called the dealer, and they were no help at all.

The OEM LS/LT spare tire that will fit in your trunk spare wheel well
looks like this (Maxxis in my case):

It just barely fits in that tire storage area over the battery. Some folks put a full-sized tire in the trunk but that will not fit
down in the well and it would take up most of the trunk area.

An added complication to using the OEM spare on an SS is that the SS Caliper has pads with "roller skates" on them that stick out.
So a 2.5" wide wheel adapter is needed on my SS to keep the spare's wheel from hitting the roller skates:
