Camaros at Night!

Hello Everyeone - it's been a while since I've been here...

I thought I would share a few pictures of my 2SS/RS that I took at night. Some are blurry, sorry. Enjoy!

A few people have asked me about the last two saying that it looks like a complicated lighting shot but really it was dirt simple. I used no lighting or flash of any kind except for what was available to me at the location. No photoshop either except for cropping.

First, the car is silver color, not blue.

The picture was taken in a parking lot at night. The lights are the typical florescent lights you see everywhere (bright amber / orange).

The blue in the car is actually the reflect of a large Bank of Montreal sign, which I parked my car right in front of.

I used a Nikon D80 for the shot. I experimented with different ISO's, apaeture and speed settings until I was able to get what I wanted.

I forgot to bring a tripod, so I rested the camera gently on the sidewalk, took off 1 shoe and used it to prop up the lens to get the angle right (how crafty!). I tried a few different shutter speeds until I got a bright enough picture (about 2 seconds I think - you can see the blur of cars moving past in the background).

If you like to take pictures for fun, TRY IT! You don't need a fancy camera to do this. If your digital camera does not have a manual mode, go to its setup and Turn Off the flash. Take your camera outside at night and try taking a few pictures in some brightly lit areas. For extra cool effect, turn on your cars lights (or just the halos).

You will have to stay VERY VERY Still. Even a little shake will ruin the picture. Try to rest the camera on something. If you can't, go to the closest utility pole to your car, and press the side of your camera up against it. This will help to keep the camera steady.

Try it! Experiment and have fun!
