Many years ago, back in the 70's, I got stopped by CHP on the freeway. He said I was doing 128 in a 55 zone. I knew how fast I was going and that sounded about right. I told the cop it was impossible for my car to go that fast as it was only a straight six (67 Camaro). He said if it was a 6 he would let me go with a warning otherwise I was going to jail. I popped the hood and he almost crapped his pants as he counted the cylinders. He handed me back my ID and said never do that again. Never let anybody tell you it is impossible to great speed out of a 235 straight six, Powerglide and 2.73 gears.

Old car, Ford Focus, I was doing 60 in a 35. Wife didn't bring her insulin and started having problems. So I was racing home. Got pulled over, explained the situation, and got an escort the rest of the way home at 80 in a 35.

1983, back-road 35 MPH limit on what mostly was farmland. Road mostly straight with just a few curves. I saw an open straight stretch, no cars on the road, about 9:00PM, floored my VW Rabbit (LOL) and hit about 60 or so, then I see a cop hiding on the side of the road as I blow by. Figuring I am screwed, I just kept on the gas. I don't see him behind me, went through a few light curves in the road, then I turned on to a side road where there are a bunch of houses. I pulled into a random driveway, quickly put it in park, shut off the lights, turned the key to off, then ducked in my seat. A minute or so later a knock on the window and a flashlight. I rolled down the window and the officer said "license and registration". I got them out and handed them over without saying a word. He comes back from his car a few minutes later and said "if you had let your foot off the break pedal, I never would have found you, your break lights were on". Then he said, "slow down, I don't like scraping body parts off the road". He handed my license and registration back with no ticket. WOW, I learned my lesson. I was 17.

~2000 or so, I was driving at night (8-9PM) along a freeway access road where the freeway itself was not built yet, HWY 114 outside Trophy Club in my red '95 Z28 with some mods done. I pulled up to a 4 way red light intersection, where the road to my right was not built but maybe 10 feet from the intersection and was pitch black. I, being under the age of 21 and single, looked to my left to see a Sebring with the top down and three attractive members of the opposite gender in the car. So, being a normal red blooded American male fresh out of my teen years driving a muscle car, did what I'm sure many of us have done before, I left a couple black lines on the pavement for ~200 feet.

It was at this time I noticed the ol' red and blues come on behind me. I knew things were about to take a nasty turn. I immediately put on my hazard lights and alighted myself of the pull off by a ranch gate on the road, smoke still coming from my rear tires. The officer pulled in right behind me, off the road.

"Son, do you know why I pulled you over tonight?" he said.

"Well, I've got a pretty good idea." I replied.

"Now, I know you know what you did was an offense. However, I did see what was in the car next to you and I know why you did it. So I'm letting you off with a warning tonight. Do you know what to do next time?"

"Check to my right also to see if there is a police officer there?" I retorted, in a joking manner.

"Hah! You're damn right son! Have a good evening." as he walked back to his Crown Vic, still laughing a little, and playing with the rays of his flashlight in the Goodyear smoke still emanating from my wheel wells.

I immediately went to the nearest public restroom to relieve my suddenly full bladder, and proceeded to have a great night, in fact.

I got an opposite reacting to waving at a cop. Me and my friend were heading home after a baseball game and we were stopped at a red light when I noticed a cop car next to us. I decided to smile and wave at them... well that was the wrong thing to do. They were in the left lane to go straight while we were going to turn, as soon as we turned they followed right behind us. No lights for us to pull over or anything. Get to the next light to get on the on ramp to the highway and they are right on our A$$ the whole time so I'm staying the speed limit then they randomly get in the next lane speeds up and flips a very illegal U-Turn and speeds away again with no lights flashing. It was the weirdest thing ever.

Best regards,

Kayla L.

Back in the '80s, at the 12 Hours of Sebring our car went out early with a terminal problem. After being there all week, I was ready to get out of there. So my Wife (now my Ex) got in our 911S and left. Traffic slowed with with a big back up at about 30 in a MPH Zone. I saw an opening and took it - went flying by 6 Cars and then a Tow Truck pulling a race car. I got her up to 130 (which was easy) and was cruising. During my pass, apparently there was a sign of a Lower Speed Limit (35) and then was a Cop Car! 130 in a 35, I pulled right in to where the cop was. He asked if I knew how fast I was going and I told him, then explained the line of cars & the Tow Truck. Just as I got the sentence out of my mouth the Tow Truck & line of cars go by. Between that and him staring at my wife's pretty legs, he let me go. Told me that he had pulled over a 930 earlier for 150 and he was dick - he went to jail!

Got pulled over back in '05 for "speeding", my bumper barely passed the CHP's front wheel. Apparently that was enough to light me up, just as he's taking out his pen to write me up, his radio goes off "shots fired, shots fired", with that he takes off telling me I got lucky. Says to me I'll get you next time! LOL, never saw that SOB again.

I've been pulled over in my viper, clearly was speeding. Cop told me he would be speeding too if he was driving it. Told me to slow down.

I got pulled over twice in 3 days last month. First time I was at a light next to a detective lady and I did not know they still had crown victoria 97-2000, though it was a civilian. She was mad that i passed her on a 2 lane road that turns to 1 and said i blew her doors away and she will tell all officers if they ever see me speeding i will get a ticket... 3 days later i get pulled over again in a downtown area, he heard my engine speeding. I told him yes I was going about 50 on a 20 and I was sorry. He said how old are you.. I said 28 and said your not young no more :( and said slow down...

So there I am cruising along at a cool 65 in a 55, not really paying attention, State patrol flies by me. Flips around & lights come on and pulls me over. I'm thinking great, just what I don't need right?

Walks up to my window, says I need license and registration of course. And then goes to say, I see you have US.ARMY license plate frame and OIF on your window. And then asks me if I deployed? I said yes, then asked my unit and where I was stationed. So I told him. He goes to his car, comes back and says. I was over there too and he gave me a warning and told me to slow it down.

Yep, got pulled over doing 45 in a 30. I pull over, as he walks up to my car, the first thing he says to me is "Nice car". I knew I wasn't getting a ticket. Gave me a warning, seeing how I had not had any tickets in 3 years. A few days later, a co-worker gets pulled over on the same road, doing the same speed (or so the officer says, wouldn't show him the radar), same officer and has not had a ticket, ever, and is 63 years old....gets a ticket. It should have been the same for both of us. Obviously, depends on what mood the officer is in that day.....

Pulled over 18 times in 4.5 years! Only 3 tickets! Last guy said to me "aren't you a bit old to be driving like that"? I told him I didn't know how to answer that.
