Ive been fortunate to have many different cars in my life (32 now) and I hope to have more. The American muscle i have owned is a 1995 Camaro, 2006 Dodge Viper, 2009 C6 Z06 and a 2010 Dodge Viper. Now a 2014 Z-28.
The 1995 was my first sports car and I was about 19, fast fun powerful for me at the time, maybe too much and fast. The Z06 was awesome, made heads turn sounded great lightyl modded the LS engine made its unique rumble but what scared me was the valve dropping issues and the ticking sounds... i decided to get the 2010 gen 4 viper. That car really made heads turn but the best way to explain a viper is that it looks good but you are too ashamed to show anyone the interior quality and the build.... bag of nails. The engine and transmission were solid. As we do, I got bored and fell upon the 14 z-28 with 270 miles on it... -I really enjoy my Z-28, for those who dont know better is just a Camaro but which kind of sucks but for those who know what the z\28 really means its rewarding to have them come up to the car and ask a ton of questions. She really can hold her own with plenty of grip and a meaty motor to back it up not to mention the brakes... In a nutshell, its not pretty from far and far from pretty, its pretty all round, has an attitude, makes me smile and fires up with no issues. Yes the interior could have been though through and yes you want the AC as an option if you want to spend non track time with it. my 2 cents Sorry about the typos and grammar, got a few minutes at the office to shoot this one out. |

Thanks everyone for the input. I tend to be impulsive about cars and I don't want to be that way with my ZR1, which is really too special to simply give up on a whim. I took it out yesterday just to drive it and remind myself how much I love it. However, I still want the Z/28, so I'm going to be patient. I had a horrible experience trying to get my ZR1.....it's a long story, but the bottom line is I drove twice more than 3 hours and ended up getting hosed with cars that were not as described. I won't do it again. The closest Z/28 to me is 2.5 hours away. I am going to wait and see if one shows up closer. If and when it does I'm going to go check it out, hopefully test drive it, and make a decision. If one doesn't show up closer to me......well, for now I've decided that's a sign from the car gods that a Z/28 isn't in the cards right now. Again, thanks for all the inputs. I read every single one and they were all helpful. More to come!

I don't blame you. After feeling Dads ZR1 accelerate from 60 to 140, that could definitely be a love affair for myself.

I was looking at the 2014 ZL1, I'm like going fast in a straight line.
My Dealer told me if I wanted to wait and look at the New Z/28 he had coming in, I'm not much of a track guy but I thought let's look. The car showed up, I went and looked at it, Bought it on the spot. It's such a bad ass looking car and then open the hood and look at that LS7 with the dry sump oil can. I have had it at the track 8 times, it's more car than you can imagine. Never had any second thought about buying it. I think that makes me a Camaro guy too. |

I had my order in for a GT350R. The dealer wouldn't take a deposit even though I had bought six cars from him in 10 years. Hell, they didn't even know what the GT350 was when I told them to get on the list! Then he said he was going to mark up the car by $20K.
So I said screw that and bought the 2015 Z/28 for 9K under sticker (still paid $75K out the door). In the end the dealer bought a base GT350 and sold it at sticker. So not only did I get a better deal, the dealer lost a Ford GT350R fan boy. Because after all that I have read about the GT350 & R I'm glad I didn't buy one. As for corvette versus camaro. My C6 Z06 was fun, but I had to slide into it (which destroyed the stitching) and it rode just to low for me. So in the end the corvette is a great car, but I'm a muscle car guy at heart. Its just the right height that I don't feel like I'm getting run over in traffic and it is easy to get in and out of. May sound dumb but we all have our pet peeves.

Since it was my post that got dissed I'll just say it, dissing a Z06 Vette is a cheap shot, don't be such a fan-boy.
Personally I love both cars, the two cars showcase the best engine Chevy ever made. personally I like walking out to the garage and going enie, menie, minie, mo ->> - LS7 (Z06) or LS7 (Z/28). Both do what they do with style...and lets be real here...the Z06 weighs 3160 lbs. Mind you I LOVE the Z/28, but it is 640 lbs heavier than a Z06.

my original remark was meant to make you smile....
some remarks are worthy of what they do over at Corvette Forum, haven't seen much of that here...
