Unusual Carbon Rotor Wear

I have changed front Rotor pads once and everything seemed normal. I just changed them for the second time (and first time for the rear) and I noted an unusual indentation into the front rotors - the shiny ring on the rotor right above the hats. It looks like the pads put in a bead into the rotor. (See pictures). This happened on both sides of the rotor and on both front rotors. The result is that the cross section of the rotor where these indentations are is below the minimum thickness of the rotor. Anyone seen anything like this? What is the cause? Is this safe to race??? PS I only wore down the pads to around 5mm.

has anyone considered using an aftermarket company like Pagid for pads vs the brembo OEM units?

I have a set of front and rear Z/28 replacement pads (Brembo box inside a GM Box) and the Brembo label on the back of the front set are imprinted Textar T4300 and the rear set say Pagid S600. I would say Brembo is already sourcing there pads from other manufacturers. I didn't research what these pad compounds are but I have been seeing outstanding pad wear tracking the car with the original factory pads this year. 8 track days at Watkins Glen.

I thought that the rotors could only be weighed to see if they needed replaced. Of course there could be a minimum thickness requirement as well I suppose.
Physical damage is another matter though.

Mine look the same. I had a stoptech BBK on my M3 that did the same thing, only on the fronts. Have no clue why it does that, but never had any issues.

Did you race with these rotors?

When you take the wheel off the rotors are marked with minimum thickness and minimum weight. We did not disassemble them so I can't say anything about the weight. However the rotor thickness is slightly higher than minimum except for at the area where these grooves were cut into the rotors by the pads. There it's well below the minimum considering that the grooves are 0.6 to 1.5 mm deep, (each face is different).

Was there any resolution on what caused this? I have the same thing going on after a new set of pads were installed.
