Yeah, my camaro does the double pop when I start it up, but it does not do it if the car sits for awhile, like overnight or for 5 or 6 hours. It is slightly better since I pulled the fuses 3 weeks ago.

seriously... smack your dealer in the face. unless you are getting the v6, you need 91 or higher in the car.tell the dealer not to fill it up. drive it to the gas station, get the reciept and tell them to reimburse you. only true way to guarantee whats in the tank. even then, id still drive it for a while then do the fuse pull when you change the oil. not at all. is that in gear or in park/neutral? Quote:
reason being is this: the lower an engine can idle (without stumbling) is a proven factor of how well the engine is tuned. my 94Z A4 idles right at 500rpm in park/neutral and around 4XX or so in gear. the LS3 should idle above 600 however, but the L99 should idle lower than that (esp in gear)

ok guys i just got back from my test drive after the overnight fuse pull (LS3) and i have to say the car idles better and my "butt dyno" tells me it is a little faster. I still cannot break the tires loose, but probably due to engine not broken in yet(1100 miles). I also have not had the tach much past 4000, but the times that i have it really started to pull after 4000. so my conclusion is it did help. also as mentioned before my other fuses in the fuse panel were not in all the way so you guys might wanna check yours.

Just to add to anecdotal evidence of one kind or another:
I have a M6/LS3 and I did the fuse thing a few weeks ago. The car definitely ran smoother, was more responsive, and even seemed to shift easier (though I still don't know if that was my imagination or not). After a week of that, everything reverted to pre-fuse-pull days. I wondered if a recent fill-up (Exxon 93 octane) did it. Maybe I got some bad gasoline. Another fill-up, no change. Last Saturday I filled up again, at the same gas station with the same octane. Within a day, all the smoothness and pep was back again, without the fuse trick. Yesterday I accidentally spun my tires, pulling out of the driveway at work, with competition mode on. Based on the above, I'm thinking:
The car really shouldn't be that sensitive to the octane, IMO, or at least not make the driving experience so very different when switching octane levels. That's my current theory, which is probably, in reality, as wrong as possible. But it explains my observations, at any rate. |

I did the fuse pull about a week ago (L99), but now it seems to be back to where it was befor. Has anyone had to do this pull more than once? I have only put premium in since the pull. I used to put mid (89 is mid where I live, with 91 being the best).
Going to pull again and see what happens. Just out of curiosity, what would happen if these fuses were left out? What exactly do they control?

ok guys. I traded my '06 300C SRT8 in on my new 2SSRSA6 last week. The first thing I tell my friends when they ask about the car is that its not as fast as the SRT8. The SRT8 was a beast of a car. So now reading through this thread I'm hoping that I have found my problem. My camaro has never felt like it's pulling with 400 ponies. I pulled the fuses out tonight so I'll report back tomorrow on the results.
On a side note, it was not uncommon for us HEMI owners to occasionally pull fuse 11. It would wipe the learned tuning and the car would perform a little better. The best way to describe it would be 'more crisp'. I never have been a fan of the adaptive engine management. So this could end up being a regular thing if GM doesn't put out a new ECM flash. I'll report back tomorrow. -John |

I heard a couple chirps today when I took off from a light. I wasn't flooring it, and only got up to maybe 4500 RPMs (maybe 5k max, oops
). My car sure feels fast to me. My MPG is kind of low though... right now it's sitting around 18 or so. I have to imagine it's because I love to hear my exhaust though Anyway, I think I'll try the fuse pull this weekend and hope it increases a bit. Never hurts to try, right? ![]() On another note, I just filled up with 93 octane today. As far as I'm aware, nothing lower than 91/92 has been put in (I filled up at Speedway once, and I don't remember which one was their highest grade). I'm hoping I can pull off some of the MPG's you guys are mentioning! I'll update yay or nay after a few days |

ok. so I got up this morning and put the fuses back in. Took it for a quick drive and the car did feel a bit more peppy. But, it was 55 degrees and my srt8 always felt better on a cold engine. So any way, I headed out for a 40 mile drive and reset the mpg counter. It definitely seemed to do better on mileage. But all that is for nothing, I just installed the predetor 93 octane tune and WOW! I had the neighbors coming outside complaining because of my burnouts.. lol I would post a pic but I dont see how to do it
