^but DUDE, it's a dang PRIUS...lol

I think what he is trying to say, is that the Camaro is sex on wheels and IF it can get 300HP and 27mpg it's worth it over something that gets more, but it's so much less in every other way.

BUT, with the way the economy is I understand and my thing is, it's your or my money, spend on what you want and be happy.

I agree, but that wasn't the debate. He was saying that a Prius gets less mpg than a mini and that is just flat out wrong.

I personally don't like the Prius, however I have looked extensively into the Civic hybrid for the wife as the gas mileage is on par with the Prius.

I personally will never own a car like those.

LOL, I hear ya...I know

I know, right now my next car list (as sad as some of them might be) are:

Subi WRX (2009 gives you 265HP of AWD FUN, but will it be fuel efficent?)
2006 BMW 3 Series 4 door 6spd 230HP I-6
2006 Audi A4 2.0T AWD/FWD (gasp, FWD....but it's great looking otherwise)
Honda Civic Si 4dr (pretty nice, good performance, but dang FWD)
Volvo C30 (nice looking, but FWD evil)
Camaro (GOD HELP ME, THIS IS the #1 choice)

Not too bad a list, but the FWD car's make me want to vomit and for some reason gives me an out of body experience as I see my soul trying to leave me...lol.

I was looking up all those rice cars last night in an attemp to see what the camros rumored weight would be like compared to those. Those things get shitty mileage, dont worry. Also almost as heavy as camaros rumored weight, and shitty weight distribution compared to camaro. oya, AWD for people that cant launch RWD cars, plus it starts at $38k

Well, to clear up a bit of info here. It's not the WRX STI, it's the normal WRX. The STI makes 300HP while the WRX (in 2009) will make 265HP. Also, the 265HP (normal WRX) will come in about 24-25K. The fuel economy of the 224HP version of the WRX (don't know for the new 265HP WRX will be) is 19/25 which is not very impressive but it's 3mpg more than my RX8 in the city and highway so I'd hope it would still be an upgrade while NOT what I'd want, I want high 20's in the highway. Finally, it weighs 3145 actually which is way under the MT listed weight for the camaro (NOTE: while unofficial FYI).

Just saying, but they are all fall back cars from the Camaro which I really want.

as far as the digging off shore...that's a joke, just like mccain's gas tax holiday, which in fact congress has essentially just decided to raise it by 10 cents...so that subject is dead in the water.... and even if congress allowed off shore drilling, it's not some snap of your fingers fix. it'll take TONS of time to get it rolling. you have the discovery period, and then you have to get all the equipment setup. it will literally be years before we would ever see a drop from this idea.

...on another note...gas has not peaked. demand is going up, and supply is nearly at it's peak. gas supply will dwindle, and demand will still be there.unfortunately, gas prices need to continue to go up, so that we're forced into finding another way. i'm with obama...in that let the futures market do what it will with oil, and let's work our asses off to find alternates. hell the chevy volt could be nearly free to drive if you rig up a solar panel on top of it.
congress is just incredibily inept...but considering who is in the majority in congress it doesn't surprise me...

by raising the tax by 10 cents it shows that they want the gas prices to stay high...not to mention they just don't understand basic economics...they probably think by raising the tax the price wil go lower

and drillingy experts have stated that in already established areas where the infrastructure is somewhat built they can get the oil out in as little as 2 years

and either way even though the 10 year timeline is something completely made up by opponents of drilling to deter support for it even if its true speculators are going to bet low because of the oil coming in which is more than what is in the middle east and will last over 60 yrs...

and what kills me about the crowd that would prefer to wait for alternatives which will take decades than go for oil which can be drilled out in 2-5 yrs realistically ....thankfully polls and like 70% of americans want to drill now so we can vote those inept politicians out of there or they will begin to change their tune to save their jobs...

Why can't we do both? what the heck is so hard about that ...go ahead let the market invest in alternatives but lets fix ourselves in the short term while we create technologies for the long term

its a freakin no brainer and will cost the opposing side political victories

That is advertized. Read Edmunds. The new Cooper on "independant tests" got better milage, just barely than the prius highway. Oh sure you can get the 38 mpg city. Hybrids aren't made for 70-80 mph. To get true EPA, you need drive the national speed limit of 60 mph is it? That I'm not sure of. And edmunds and MSN make a note that hybrids are being marked up do to demand and people getting all scared of gas prices and their EPAs are being padded or exagerated. They also mentioned that hybrids to cost anywhere from 5 to 6 k more than their counter parts. It would take an average of 5 years to make up the diference when you spend on a hybrid instead of a car that gets 25 mpg. And maintainance is more. In reality, Hybrids do save you money.

And yes, Dude it's a Prius.
