Anyone with a real stereo yet?

Am I the first one to ruin it? I know there are some haters out there. These are so cheap right now that I could buy a 2nd one to track.

I am not selling mine. It has A/C already, that makes it almost a Cadillac anyway....

Everything except the JL 12w6 is going in.

Focal KRX2s active on 2 JL 300/2s
Audison Bit One
FI BTL N2 (Neo Magnet, 2 ohm coils) on ~2000-2400 watts?
2 Digital Designs M1d. One per coil linked.
80 lbs of Second Skin Damplifier and Damplifier Pro

Discuss.

Cool project! I think some might have put the MyLink setup in their cars. For good sound in mine I roll the windows down and run open headers

You'll need the Dynamat for sure. It's loud in here.

Take an 80k camaro designed for track duty and weight reduction from GM and add weight. .......

Looks like a killer set up though.

That will be nice. I have focals in my zl1 and love them. You're running a fair bit more power than me though

Looks like a fun project - if that makes your car more enjoyable for you - good news. Great looking set up for sure - but adding dynamat to quiet some of the outside noise is a must for good audio.

Alternate is "joint" audio - good stereo with good car noises in concert with one another!

Have fun with the project.

sure the haters are going to come out, let them. Your car, your ears.. I prefer the sound of the LS7 myself (haven't turned the radio on). If I want to play music, I take a different car.

I understand how you feel, but I bet this will still weigh less than a ZL1 stock-for stock. My track friends joke that my car sees more racing than theirs do anyway. I have seen a huge install in an NSX that was primarily Focal stuff and everyone didn't get too angry... The NSX is also a much lighter car than the 5th gen is. I do not think adding 150-200 lbs overall is going to drastically change the car. I have lost 60 lbs myself and there is more weight to take out in the clutch and exhaust.

I am more interested in some standing 1/2 mile or standing mile events. I think it could be cool to just compete with the 175-185 mph guys. My dad just bought a C7 Z06 and it is a faster/better track car than this will ever be. The 6th gen Z/28 or ZL1 will be faster than this one too, but this one is just a really special car. We are trying to minimize the weight that we add, but there is no way around the sound damping material. It will end up as a much better end result (stereo and street-car wise) with a good install. We got a bunch of stuff done today so far.

Work in progress...We are going to pull most of the interior apart and do the floor and roof and back seat area too... I will try to take a ton more pictures to document everything.

These are just a few pictures along the way, still a work in progress. It made a huge difference already. We didn't use much material and it is really solid feeling now. ( less like an empty tin can )

Awesome setup. What was your total cost? Can you post a video or YouTube the results?

I'm really curious how the sound deadening changes the car. Not a big fan of sand and rocks hitting the underside of the car sounds.

Is there any less engine noise?

No worries. I enjoy my radio w/ 12" sub aftermarket added as well when I leave the track.
