I Need Motor Work Done!

Hi guys

I live in San Jose and I have loud knocking noise in my car diagnosed as a bad lifter. Is there someone near San Jose who thinks they can handle/ want a side job? I'm a single dad and 2000$ is way too much right now? Thanks

Any references would be appreciated also

Vince

I second Luke at Blu808. Even though I'm in SoCal, I have dealt with Luke on a couple of occasions for a buddy who is not on the forums in that area. Luke did a spectacular install of a Maggie supercharger on my buddies 2011 SS. Luke is honest and reputable. Give him a call.

I third Luke @ Blu808. He just put some suspension parts on for me and was very fair and reasonable with his pricing. He did a great job and took really good care of my car. I'm pretty picky when it comes to who touches my car. Only Abel Chevrolet and Luke work on my car when I don't do the work.

Whatever u do don't let Starkweather touch it! Luke or Josh at JRG Motorsports would be the only guys I would recommend.

I'm trying to get in touch with Luke thanks guys!

Is this something I should let a shop manage or could someone do this in their garage? Seems like it's no bigger deal than swapping out a cam? Also one guy will do it but he's only wanting to use dealer parts inflating the price. I see one lifter is about 70$ from the dealer when a set of 16 from Delphi is 120?

How many miles are on the car? Does it sit a lot? And your sig says 2012 but you said its 2010. I believe the 2010's had a recall on lifters.

That is going to depend on how much carnage the broken lifter caused. Mine took out the oil pump, main bearings, cam, etc. I said screw it and had a forged motor built.

Hopefully your luck isn't like mine.

Could be minor or major, you really need a trusted shop to check it out.

I don't think Luke gets on this forum much. He has been very busy lately. I will pass the message though.
