in NY it takes 1-2 months after you register the car to get the title back in the mail from the DMV so yes it does count as having a title

Sorry, but you're asking too much

I understand how you may feel that your car is worth more, but the facts and reality of the situation just don't support what you want to get for it. You said your car had a MSRP at $36K and it sold for $40K....you cannot add your NY taxes into the resale price. There are states with a much lower sales tax than NY.

Consider this, in Michigan my 2SS/RS cost me $36K "out the door". Why would I even consider paying $35K or even $33K for a used one? Depending on where you live, as soon as you drove down the street from the dealership, your car lost any where from 15% -25% of its value.

The true price or worth of any item, be it a car, house, washing machine or a pile of rocks, is only what someone is willing to pay you for it...regardless of what it cost you.

Not trying to be harsh, but that's the reality of selling an almost new, but used car; you will get hurt on the sale. Doesn't matter if its a Chevy, Honda, Ford or Toyota. I wish you luck trying to get $30K.

I responded to your reply on the FS thread but since you felt compelled to double post it , here is the reply from the FS thread

because we are talking about one of the hottest cars to be had (or at least thats what everyone says) where people are still waiting on orders and dealers are still stickering over mrsp in places

My car was $36,900 which is alot closer to $37k than $36k and I am asking $35k w a grand worth of mods into it, I never said anything about the sales tax......................

thats $2900 less than someone would have to pay for the same car with the same mods new, $2900 is a good chunk of coin and it only has 1600 miles on it and is mint....................

granted its yellow and automatic and a non RS which means theres alot of people who wouldnt want it but there are people who own and will buy indentical cars in the future...............

I am not the only guy on the planet who likes this combo

Show me one other 2SS for 35k or under and then lets compare mileage

9c1ny,

I didn't read the entire thread so sorry if someone already suggested this-
Have you checked to see what a dealer will give you on trade? Yes, it will probably be less than what you might get but they'll be able to move it easier. On a trade you should save on the sales tax, if you sell it outright your stuck paying sales tax on the full purchase price of the replacement vehicle. Just a thought....

your obviously not getting the point people are trying to make apperant to you.

your like that chick who though that she could get 9k for her car thats worth 5k according to kbb.

you might get lucky and find someone dumb enough to buy a used car for only 2900 less then a brand spanking new one, but it's going to take time.

as number3 said earlier, maybe back when the demand was imense; now you can walk onto a dealer lot and see camaro's sitting there.

do us all a favor and wake up from the dream land your living in.

When someone asks you do you have title, they usually mean Clean Title, with no lien. Meaning do you own the vehicle. You have a 12k Lien on vehicle so guess what no you don't own it. Hard concept so let me break it in simple terms for you.

You no pay bank. Bank take car.

Let me know if still confused.

see?

op, this is what were all trying to get you to understand.

it's not the car, it's the market. where you are it sucks.

in all honesty, my suggestion is to take the car to the west coast, i just went to a dealer a few days ago (orange county) and saw they're 2ss black on black marked with a 10k price adjustment.

have it shipped here, you'll end up making much better money.

Resale

Listen people are just mean and feel no joy unless there making fun of other people. Selling for 2k under sticker is a great price, but as someone else said it's not a great deal for someone who has to finance. The interest rate for new and used car's is almost 3.5% diffence. So a new one would be a better deal for them, what you need is a cash sale! My suggestion is to find cash sale, make purchase price on paper like $25,000 you save the person a grand in tax,( if it's NY) so they save $3,000 and they get a free grand in mod's! Like someone else said we all have car's or have car's on order so here is a bad place to sell, I think you would sell the car within a week on craigslist for what you want, everyone i know want's Black or Yellow so i would not worry about color. The true joy of having the camaro this year is that we were one of the few that had it, for me having mine in July was the real value, because I never see them here on the Island!!! Good luck!

Why are you giving the guy a hard time? New York gives the title to the owner with the lien listed on it. Most states other than NY the bank holds the title and releases it after it's paid off. What's the difference? When he sells it, he'll pay the $12000 lien, get an MV-901 (lien release) and then the title is clean.

Let me know if you're still confused.

I'd say you got lucky. There are two camaros ON THE LOT here in Enid, Oklahoma and I know there is a dealer in OKC with at least 4 on the lot...most of the others around have at least one inbound car that is unsold...you chose a good time to get rid of yours. Congrats!

It will be interesting to see, but I'm betting that the V-6 will be the car of choice for the used car lots as they can get that "low-ball" price out there and lure in people hoping it is a V-8...most of the world can't tell the difference, let's be honest. If this is the case you may see a v-6 selling for closer to window sticker than we will see the SS...just a thought not a prediction. We are all still learning "Camaro Economics" right now-and it is a moving target for sure!
