I think this is the part# for it, Vortech also uses on the Hemi.

2D170-171

It is $269 though, but with everything to do this will still be cheaper than trying to do an 8-rib upgrade on all the pulley's.

Looks like there will be some epic V6 drag racing at Thunder Valley next season!

We kind of know there is more to going fast than circling random crap from a JEGS catalog.

Going to be fun trying to get my build forged, but my block is intact so that saves a lot of money. Gotta save up money though, we had to spend a lot on that car show but it raised a lot for the animal shelter.

I was going to ask how that went. I was looking forward to bringing my car out but it's been stuck on the rack at work. Have the diff out doing the posi mod and got stuck on the axles. My inner boots sling grease so I want to replace the boots but I haven't been able to find any in the aftermarket yet. Nobody lists one for the Camaro. Dealer ones are $40 each and in Michigan, but they tend to leak on a lot of people. I might have to end up going that route though.

Same here, just had the rear end swapped out with the 1LE rear and replaced both axles and hubs. My luck the drivers side inner boot leaks and its not available separately. The axles came from LKQ as did the carrier, but the hubs are new. I filed a claim with them yesterday to see if they will warranty the axle. If not i am thinking of ordering a new one and have the dealer install it so i get a 1year warranty on it and labor. I would have bought new axles when the rear was put in a few weeks ago, but only the drivers side was available. The dealer that did the work doesn't feel they should cut me any slack on the price to replace it even though their guy didnt see the cut boot when i asked it to be checked prior to install for this very reason.

If LKQ warranties it i may try to replace it myself. Doesn't look like its a huge deal as long as the C clip doesnt hang up or i tear the seal. Any pointers?

Main thing is just not to let the axle splines drop and drag across the seal. I had a guy help me and hold the end of the axle while I guided it out.

The boot is serviceable it has a part number but it's $40 and not the greatest design apparently because slinging grease seems to be a regular problem on the SS. Heard of some brand new cars slinging grease from the inner boots. I'm bound determined to find a boot that works. If not then I'll just spend 80 on more factory ones.

where did u find a part number for it? I checked two dealers and both only found a boot for the outer.

With all the issues i have had over the past 4 years with the rear, this is the first time dealing with the cv boot.

My dealer parts guy, now you got me worried that he looked it up wrong. I'll call him back and check. Seems like worst case I could just use a stretch boot.

Yours is the 1LE axle, correct? I too looked at a couple online GM websites and only list a part number for the outer. They show a pic of the inner, but no #.

No I didn't go with the 1LE stuff, just standard SS axles. Maybe that's the difference.

Mine are 1LE axles and no problems for 2 years except that one axle nut that got torqued off from my 1500 horsepower.

1500 seems low...that must be at idle
