How to remove the plastic tab that holds O2 sensors
Hey gang
I'm replacing my headers and have to remove the 4 O2 sensors. I broke that stupid yellowish tan tab on both rears. How can I remove the front green ones without breaking them? |

Try using a very small flat head screwdriver to press down the lock and wiggle it off/out

I broke the green things for the rear and almost did for the front. The rears I just zip tied. I tried using neelenose pliers to get the tab out....... Didn't work.

I just pulled hard on them with my fingers. Sideways. Maybe some needlenose pliers would work. They do suck. Seems like overkill. The tab holds them. Also you have to pull down on the whole thing first to remove it from the block. Then you have a little more room to wiggle it.

Pull HARD. The driver's side one is easy, the passenger side one is more difficult because you need to pull towards the firewall.

No they should lock back with no trouble. However, the O2 extenders are locked on by a clip and should be fine without the extra security clip. Mine have been running fine for over a year now without the clip locked back on.

We mean pull on them to remove them from the block. Then you have a little more room to get at the locking tabs. If you pull around on them , they should move around. You are not trying to get the tab off at this point. You are just removing it from a sliding holder that is hooked onto the back of the block. Kind of like a cordless drill charger. You slide the battery into, and slide it back off. Same concept, only way smaller. At that point it is no longer buried against the block, and you can get at those tabs. Then you pull the tab out from the plastic clip. Then you just take a small flat head screwdriver and pull up the tab and slide out the connection. Once you get it you will understand. Seems you have to just do it once, then it is all clear. Hard to explain to someone though. Maybe easy to explain on the phone. If you continue to have trouble , you can pm me and I will give you my number .
