ZL! VIN Decoding
Hey there Everyone
I am new to ZL1 ownership. While it lived a tough life so far, I am going to repair it and give it a good home. Is there a site that, if I put my VIN in, will decode it for me? Or do I need to look elsewhere for codes on the car? Thanks, Ed |

Hey mred2nice, strong rumor, not officially confirmed but I believe strong evidential proof the last 4 numbers are the production number. My last 4 are "0169". All the others are standard VIN numbers, decoded on many other sites into plain language. I did pay for the report from the Canadian company that is the "official" blessing authority for recent Camaros. This company can only verify the registration of Canadian vehicles, but since recent Camaros are built there, they verify the pedigree. The final report I received did not confirm that rumor about the sequential numbering, but with my production date, reported in this report, was Aug 5, 2013 for my 2014 ZL1. Since "0169" are my last 4, this makes sense, since it was early in the 2014 production year and sequence. I got directed to Vintage Vehicle Service from this site, and used the form provided here to submit. Unfortunately, that's an outdated form, with old prices. A rep called me from Canada and we were able to do the fix over the phone for the increased fees. The final fee was around $115, which included the $15 fee for mailing the printed report back to me. Sadly I already probably half of the info they provided, but they also gave me some I didn't. Since I'm a fool of a fanatic for my "ZL1", I paid without a grunt. I apologize for the long-winded answer to a quick question.
