Factory Halo Ring Outage

This has to have come up before but I'll be damned if I can find it. My 2013 SS/RS has the driver side headlight halo ring out. The light works fine just the halo is deadish (dim). The local dealer says I have to replace the entire assembly. Is this true or is it a ballast or bulb issue? They want 1100 dollars for it. At that rate it would cost me as much as tires every 3 years, lol.

2010 thru 2013 halo ring is lit by an led and that led can be replaced thru the back of the housing. You will have to pull the front fascia and headlight unit off the car to do it but it is not that difficult to do. The dealer is blowing smoke!

I replaced both of mine with a NightOwl V2 halo kit (just under $400) and you can change the color of the halos from your smart phone. This kit comes with a DVD that shows you how to do the replacement yourself. It is a lot cheaper than the $1100 the dealer is trying to steal from you.

I also recently heard about an led kit from Diode Dynamics that is very similar to the NightOwl V2 kit that is about $100 to $150.

had halo on passenger side replaced under warranty at around 6 months. Is this not a bumper to bumper warranty item for 5 years? yes to the whole assembly.

bumper to bumper warranty is 3 years/36,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The halo is a giant fiber optic ring that is lit by a led, as stated above.
