Hows it going everyone, lowered my top today and noticed it was going down unevenly. The left side makes this weird noise and gets stuck. I have no clue what it could be. Here is a video of the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The quotes on getting this fixed are outrageous.

Hmmm, don't know.
But given what other have experienced here, would take a wild guess at 5th bow issue(s)??? Just curious, how much are the outrageous quotes?

I've researched the 5th bow, could be that but not sure. I've been quoted almost $3k

This will be a warranty issue for sure. Just bring it into your dealer. Lastly, check your trunk to make sure that there is nothing in it.

Bingo! Hope it's nothing to crazy... Are there 2 motors running on either side, or just one? If there's 2, it could be a motor going bad... just a guess though.

Oops sorry, OP - didn't notice yours is a 2015 & relatively new. So yes, warranty time - should be covered unless you've got high mileage or some other excluding factor. And as GWP said, I'd check to make sure there's nothing in the well under the top.
Beautiful car - Good luck!!! :-)

The left drivers side stops and won't go down. The right side continues to go down but makes a loud metal to metal creeking sound.

This is what I got today, quote wise. $3010.00
Says I need both left and right rails which are $615 a piece. I am trying to confirm this myself but I can't figure out which part the rail is on the GM OEM parts website. $3k seems very excessive considering its one side and you can get to pretty much everything with the top half opened.

You just went past the warranty. No way you should pay this. What you do is call GM. Look up number in your paperwork. Ask this question: "Are the rails for the convertible top SUPPOSED to go after 38,000 miles?" Of course, the answer is NO. Tell them yours did and fax in the proof that you have in terms of the estimate. Explain what a great customer you are, past GM customer, blah blah in order to get them to cover this part. I did the same thing once with my transmission on an Olds Cutlass supreme with 40,000 miles. They covered the full transmission job.

If GM will not replace it under warranty you might look at replacing the complete top and frame. I bought one from Source One Auto Parts and it was a new OEM GM top. I bought a black one but they sold out of the black tops but they do have the tan one and they are only $1500. White car looks good with a tan top
I replaced mine myself and was not a hard item to replace. If your wanting a black one you can get the complete top and frame from GM for $2320. Might be better to buy a complete top verses having one repaired and not knowing if it will do the same thing again. |

So from further inspection today I noticed that the drivers side hydraulic cylinder isn't working properly it stops functioning when the top gets about half way down causing one side to keep trying but the other to stop. Could this be a leak or fluid problem?
