5th gen value plummeting bad?
I been searching for a 5th gen for a bit. Found a few but decided to wait. Man did the wait pay off. Just a measly month or 2 and I'm seeing 5th hens tank in pricing. There's a local 2ss with 12k miles for 21k!!!!! I'm like woahhhhhhh.
How bad is it by y'all ? I wonder if now is the time to buy or wait til new year. |

I bought my very clean 2SS RS back in April with 19k miles for 21K. The prices have been down for some time in my opinion. Atleast the ones that are actually selling.

as been discussed....Nothing magical occurred in the last 60 days, GM is trying to move product off during Q4 with 25% off MSRP for the 3rd year in a row now. This naturally pushes older models lower in resale value. Low mileage 5th gen 1LE with recaros is still worth 30-31k, good luck with that one. '14-15 2SS target is $27-28k + TTL @ retail and $24-25k private sale or trade in. Camaro still has one of the highest resale values on the market.

true,it didnt cost much more for my 2015 RS than it would have for an earlier model with more miles on it.if i had gone with the earlier car there was no warrantee so it was a no brainer.BTW put about 250 miles on it between yesterday and today,im a happy camper.

Is $ 21000 before taxes cheap for a 2012 RS vert ? It has 31000 miles. Ya you right that's not cheap.

I was looking for about a month or two when I found mine (right here, btw). I really wasn't in a hurry, since it's going to sit in the garage for the next 4-5 months.
If anything, that's what's driving prices down right now. If you live in the North and buying, you're only buying one if it's exactly what you want, at the price you want. If you live in the North, and you're selling, you'll take a little less and avoid making payments and insurance for the next 4-5 months while you aren't driving it anyway. A 2SS ILE with Recaro's for $23K? Maybe a year from now if it's got 40,000 miles on it. |

In April 2014, I purchased my 2011 2SS for 21k with 32k miles. Was on the lot for 5 months so they want to sell it. I'd say with the low milage, you're still getting a great price on a 2SS. 1LE and low miles, not so sure they'll be out there...

Lol. Yeah I'm just saying. That price would be perfect. I just know prices are dropping quick. I found a CERTIFIED camaro. I need to check that out. I am hoping for just even recaro seats. 22k and local. Has 4k miles

I started shopping in April. The prices went up by $2000 or so once the warm weather hit in late May. I suspect they're just coming back down now that the summer/fall has ended. Dealers are under the impression that this is a seasonal car, and price accordingly.

Mentioned that to the dealer and walked away. The following Monday, they called and I floated a low ball offer to them, stating Summer was over, and I was ready to buy at Winter pricing. They bit on the offer the next day. A cold wet crappy day. Make an offer, and be ready to buy. |
