Thank you, Fbod.

Pure Magic...mark my words.

RatedZ, this is the last time I'll post in here, only because I have nothing more to say, not becaue I'm upset or whatever...

Though in the minority, a few people want to do what you want to do, and there's no reason to attack anybody who wants to...it's just another form of modification. But unless you work in or around the auto Industry, it's nearly impossible to understand the reasons behind the 'problem', and exactly how difficult it is to "fix" it.

My post that you quoted as "fail", attempted to explain that to you, in detail, and calmly...apparently, you'll stop at nothing however to ignore reason and continue with this game.
Weight absolutely impacts fuel economy.

all this about wieght reminds me of a story in HOT ROD magazine. They stripped down a stock caddy to just the frame and a seat and it ran a 12 second 1/4 .

Still wrong. Sorry. Good try though.

My GT500 vert is 3900 lbs too (and its a much smaller car physically than a Camaro)....get used to it. I'd rather have the extra weight for the beef to protect me in case of an accident than to have a trimmed down piece of racing elegance that would not protect me if I got broadsided at a traffic light.
These are street cars that are fast, not race cars. Enjoy the power and safety of them, and be glad that your family is as safe in them as they would be in a new Toyota (or whatever).

It's your group of people who can't stick to a subject at hand which is a legitimate one. It was real simple. All I was looking for was advice on how I could pull unneeded weight out of a vehicle that I was possibly going to purchase. It's called "research." All anyone had to do was answer the question, but instead, a few of the fanboys chose to start a flame war out of a simple subject.

Enjoy your forum, and thanks for no help. Good to know where not to look for any sort of useful info.
UNBELIEVABLE!
There are plenty of practical thoughts in this thread to put you in the direction you want to head, but YOU continued non-stop to make it an ongoing confrontation, hi-jacking your own thread.

You just don't let up do you?!
Your questions were answered a number of times, you obviously would rather interface with those you offended, and you continue to do so.

Your 500 lb. reduction can't realistically happen, so go back through and find the post that will lead in the direction your comments say you want to head.

And then there's the other side of me who wants a comfortable machine that looks good, goes fast in a straight line, and is fun to drive in the twisties. I'm not looking to "slam the car around like the Dukes of Hazzard," but I surely want a car that I can take a corner with. I like to drive....how you'd call, "spirited."

If I can get a Camaro down to 35xx lbs, I can live with that. It's not quite my target weight, but it's close enough.
so 35xx is the magic number that will make it handle like an m3. thank you for pointing that out

FYI, you're still trolling the posters here instead of asking questions related to Camaro performance.

If you had paid attention to that, you would know that the most popular suggestions currently are: reducing unsprung wheel weight, and getting sway bars.
