How long for an order placed today?
Been dreaming about a Camaro for a long time and the wife just gave the green light. I am starting to do some research and see some available cars at the local dealers, although nothing is optioned quite the way I want.
I am going to be patient on this one so I can get the exact car I want. How long should I reasonably expect for an automatic (with manual shifting) SS? Also, any recommendations for a good dealer in So. Cal. I called one dealer who didnt even want to talk about an order. He was trying to get me to buy one on the floor for $10k over sticker. |

the best thing we can all suggest is when you go into the dealers, ask some VERY important questions, and get the answers in writing. ENSURE they they are selling the car at or under MSRP, ENSURE they have an open allocation, in other words, your order is ready to be submitted to GM NOW, if required by that dealer, give them the "holding money" and watch them actually submit the order, if you can.. if not, go elsewhere as you end up on some waiting list hell. With that, you can expect to take delivery on average 8 to 10 weeks.

depends on your dealers' number of allocations and those ahead of you. I ordered 6/1/09 but because of the number of people ahead of me and limited allocations, I didn't actually get officially accepted into production until 8/24/09. But from then on, yes, can be typically 8-12 weeks. I'm hoping mine is end by the end of October.

Careful with ordering the SS. Even if dealer has immediate allocation, there could be delays with the constraint. I don't think you'll see an SS in 8-12 weeks.....someone correct me if I'm wrong?

I am on the other side of the spectrum - I ordered my 2SS RS on August 12th and it was built Sept. 12. It is all about the allocation status of your dealer. Once it is built though, it could be a very long process of shipping it to you depending upon where you are located.

Well, I was shocked to find a Red Jewel Tintcoat SS/RS on the floor of a local dealer. I snatched it up on Sunday, so I didn't have to wait at all.
Still scratching my head at how I got so lucky. |

Waiting for Production
I ordered my VR 2SS/RS 6M on Sept 1st.
The dealer submitted the order later that week. I saw today that it is scheduled for production on the 28th of September...only four weeks after I ordered it. The car should delivered to the dealer (Michigan) the week of Oct 5th. That's only five weeks and a couple of days after I said, "OK, order it". Not bad. Alfie

it's all about if they have an allocation or not. I went to paradise chevy in temecula and ordered 8/18 and they didn't actually have an allocation yet but had some coming and I was next in line, my TPW is 9/28 so looks like 6-8 weeks for me. I drove all the way down to temcula because they would do it for sticker and I heard some good results on this forum. I believe they do have some allocations now, you can check them out. I ordered a 2SS as well, those might be a little tougher to come by now, not sure.
