C6Z guys seal the perforated pipe in the NPP muffler. I was going to do this for my C6Z, but got some Corsas for $400. I want to do this for my 1le, but seems like only a few runs this setup.

More interesting is a guy down near Houston, he cuts then re-welds the NPP muffler in the Grand Sport/Z06/ZR1; his mod: rather than drilling holes with a hole saw (aka..the NPP mod you are talking bout...) he makes the muffler 3" all the way through. According to him- and others on the CF whose mufflers have been modded, its as loud or louder than any of the aggressive mufflers...sprint car levels at speed.
I can dig up a contact number, and will look and try to find the discussion. He told me he charges 1000.00 if you can get you mufflers to him to modify.

Very interesting modification, and thank you for sharing. My question is why not just pull the fuse and save $1000? I may have unsophisticated ears, but my Z sounds good with just the fuse pulled.

Well to the point, I have pulled the fuse. I agree the Z/28 DOES have a great exhaust, its much like the NPP exhaust used in the '11 and later Z06's -> which doesn't surprise me since the rest of the cars mechanicals are lifted right from the later C6-Z06 Z07's...except for the addition of the .391 rear end.

The NPP fix I mentioned if applied to the Z/28 or the Z06 makes a drone free exhaust which meets or exceeds aftermarket exhausts..at least according to the forum members that have done it; again sprint car sound especially when combined with long tube headers. FYI the biggest difference in the '11 and later vette's was the addition of an x-pipe.

Makes sense.

To each his own, I just posted a link. I didn't say I did it..righto?

Normally I'd say" Man this place is sounding like the corvette forum more than ever with remarks like that.."; but I'm going to try and not be so confrontive this next year...

On the other hand... but I do doubt you can get your muffler resized to 3" AND mig-welded/heli-arced for 75.00 per...unless you can expertly DIY. If you read his entire post (or others he has on this mod) he tried several configurations of the innards to find the best combination; so I'm assuming he thinks his efforts are worth a few $$.

I just keep a series of interesting links to stuff done on Z06's as I have one. In many cases the same fix applies to the Z/28 as its essentially the same mechanicals as the C6-Z06 Z07; w/ a .391 rear end thrown in for good measure.

I suspect I know what the issue is here.
