What Bra do you wear...
I need a bra.....Until I can afford to get a clear bra professionally installed, I would like to get something to protect the front end of the car. I do 60 miles a day on the interstate. Always end behind a dump truck hauling pea gravel, and bubba forgot to latch the rear hatch.
![]() Anyways, I have never purchased Lebra, etc before. Just wondering what others have had good success with.

I got a novistretch bra and it worked well for a while. Then I did a 3000 mile trip and it stretched too much on the sides causing to rub against the paint and leave marks. You can see it in my sig pic how it scrunches up on the corners near the wheels. At low speeds it probably would've been fine. But once you have some speed, air will get in there and make the material move around.
That being said I was sure glad to have it on that trip. It prevented a lot of crap from getting stuck in my radiator. The scuffs it left i was able to remove. In the future I'll probably move the velcro in the wheel well to keep the material from scrunching up like it did.

I'm not a fan of the pleather bra for cars. I had one on my first car and it made a hell of a mess on the clear. Scratched the crud out of it. I removed it every week and cleaned it and the car, but the wind and temperature changes turned it into a brillo pad on the paint. I would suggest just saving your pennies and getting the clear installed when you can, trying to avoid being behind trucks when possible.

I'm with JerTM...
Save your money and get a clearbra installed. In the meantime, give Bubba lots more room :-)

Bras on cars used to destroy paint over time. Is that still the case with the new ones?

Anything Other than the clear bras that are applied like a decal are useless for car. The only thing they are good for is covering damage

How many people responding in this thread actually have a clear bra installed?
I'm always worried that when it comes time to replace the clear bra someday, it could lift the factory paint off, especially on the bumpers. Or, if that doesn't happen, you'll be left with lots of dents and dimples on the paint surface after taking it off. Also, I've read that bird droppings and bugs guts can still penetrate the clear wrap material making replacement a necessity. |

I also have had a clear bra before. I also had 1 lebra. The lebra was a huge mistake. The clear bra doesn't pull the paint off. Any damage that might happen still with the clear bra is way less than it would have been without it. I had no damage with mine on. Sixteen years on my jaguar replaced once. Great investment

If you have a clear bra on your bumper and pull it off after several years the issue of paint pulling off can occur on some depending upon how long it was on, the climate you have been driving in and how fresh your paint was before the clear bra was applied. I had mine pulled off after 5 years and it was okay but my car does no winter driving.
But I have seen that happen to others. On another note, when you get a piece of gravel that hits your bumper with a clear bra on the bumper the paint may still chip under the clear bra but you just wont know it has chipped because the paint stays in the same spot, You may see some chips when you pull the clear bra off and may have to repaint before applying a new one. That is more common. I have seen that as well. There are several different kinds of clear bras out there. Talk to your installer and choose the best one for your needs. I have tried two different brands now and I see a definite improvement between the two. Taking off the clear Bra is about four times the work as the install. Its a big job to pull the bra off carefully without pulling the paint and to get all the glue residue off. I was able to assist my installer and watched the whole process. I also agree that any kind of Bra stretched over the bumper will leave marks eventually in the rain or at high speeds. Dirt gets in between and rubs and the fabric rubs itself. Never found one that did not leave marks after awhile. I would rather not mention any particular brands cause I don't like to bash any products and after all, they all are changing their technology frequently anyways Hope this helps. |
