Car Pro Essence Results

Thanks to "Joe M 2012 2SS" for sending me some of the Car Pro Essence to try out on my car.
I had previously used Chemical Guys Blacklight. While it certainly looked good from 5 feet, I kept seeing the light scratches and swirls in the sun.

I ran a single pass of Car Pro Essence and a DMF Pad for these results. Notice how the finish diffused the light to the side before, then after the car pro...it was a direct reflection almost killing the recording. Pretty cool

I would definitely compound first with the level of swirls on your paint.

The Essence did do a good job of correcting/filling a good percentage of them.

The gloss factor of the Essence will be increased if you compound first and remove the defects.

Joe yep, I agree. This product really is great though thanks for showing it to me.

Today I had some more time so me and my brother in law pulled out this Hex Logic Pad's and V Line of Chemical Guys. This is a quick video, but I think I have a good combo now at least.

Sure this won't be my last and final combo, but for now its working really well.

Chemical Guys V32, Car Pro Essense and then a coat of Blacklight.

That looks great after compounding first.

The Essence still makes me feel like I'm cheating on the finishing polish step, as it only takes one slow pass, versus 4, 5, or 6 passes with traditional finishing polish. Also adds the bonus of putting durable protection on at the same time.

The Blacklight I've found isn't really that durable, it does fill very light defects and adds a good bit of gloss, but lasts a month or two at best.

I use CarPro Reload after Essence, then once every 3 months wash with Carpro Hydrofoam. If my car wasn't outside 24/7, I'd put a coating on it instead.

Since you have a garage to work in, topping Essence with a coating would provide you with around 2 years of protection.

Thanks for all the tips Joe. Realistically then does it even make sense to throw Blacklight on top of the Car Pro essence? Or just skip to the WAX.

No you don't really need the Blacklight after Essence.

I like a sealant on top of Essence because of the longer durability. If your using wax, you don't want one that has any type of abrasive or solvent in it, as it will remove some of the Essence.

These are usually called cleaner wax.

So many manufacturers today make products they call wax, when in all actuality, they are blends of wax and sealant.

A wax that is a "true" wax contains all natural ingredients.
Sealants contain man made polymers, and usually last twice as long as a true wax.

Many people with black cars like to wax them, for the warm look it creates, and I totally get that. I'd just put a sealant on first.

I like Carpro Reload sealant because it's highly resistant to acids, so if you get bird bombs or bug splatter, and you clean them off within a reasonable time frame, you won't have any etching.

Another product that they just releases along with essence+ is ECH20 waterless, rinseless, detail spray. It performs so well that I doubt I will order reload again.

I have a bottle of this as well. Haven't used it yet. How do you know your a detailing junkie? When you have 10 bottles of stuff you haven't tried yet in your detailing cabinet.

I don't think ECH20 contains as much SI02 as Reload does.

Merlinii (a forum member), who is a professional detailer, actually mixes a couple ounces of Reload in with it, to make "Merlin's magic elixir". This is supposed to give you the best of both worlds. The cleaning ability of ECH20, and the durability/protection of Reload AIO.

Joe Marks
Ok, I was asked (nicely) to reveal the secret formula for "Merlin's Magic Elixir"

Products:
1) Spray Bottle w/Trigger (24 oz.) (nice spray bottle)

1) CarPro ECH2o Concentrate 17oz (500ml)

1) CarPro Reload 500ml (Best Value)
or
1) CarPro Reload 100ml (1/2 makes two 24oz bottles)

1) CarPro Boa Orange 24" x 16" Towel
or
1) Microfiber Madness Crazy Pile (24" x 16") Towel *

Formula:
Take the clean/empty 24 oz bottle and
Add 2oz of ECH2o Concentrate (10:1 formula)
Add 20 oz of water (distilled is best)
Add 2oz of Reload (1/2 botttle of the 100ml size)
This will total 24oz - Shake well
Use a towel (listed above) - These are good towels!
lightly spray the towel and lightly spray the paint
Wipe one section at a time lightly until it disappears

Reload offers protection and hydrophobic beyond Ech2o
This product combination cleans & protects in one bottle.
If you're cleaning off dirt use the waterless wash method.
This makes a great quick Detail Spray to keep in the vehicle.

I've never been a big fan of Blacklight. I use Essence before I install a coating.
Recently I've been able to do a two step with a compound followed by Essence+

There is no abrasive in Essence+ and it is a LSP. Great to use on coated paint!
It will "repair" the coated vehicle (remove swirls) without removing the coating.

Essence has a primer that allows you to install a coating on top of the product.
Essence has fine abrasives that will level fine scratches and remove a coating.

On the other hand, you can not apply a coating on top of Essence+. It is a LSP.

Hmm, might have to try the magic blend then. I do.have a couple of Oz of reload left over. Still real impressed with ech20. Have also used essence + on a hood coated with gtechniq combo. Works really well also.

So using a complete Car Pro lineup.

I would compound, prime with Essence, coat with Quartz. Then Top with Reload, and keep it maintained with your magic elixir mix?
