Maybe it was a v6 with a ghost cam and a exhaust set up that sounded as good as a v8, and beat a ss in a race because the ss had a poor driver that didn't know how to launch his ss.

Now Im definitely slamming the brakes on the resonated X pipe / muffler delete.
I own the x pipe (sitting in my trunk) and have not touched the stock exhaust yet. It absolutely baffles me how tons of people have done the resonated x pipe and muffler delete and think its the best set up going and sounds great but others think its garbage and removed it right away? What am I missing?

The resonated xpipe is a muffler that takes the place of the other mufflers, that's why some people go muffler delete when using the res xpipe, as not to run three mufflers. The res xpipe is supposed to eliminate most of the rasp associated with the v-6 exhaust. The DynoMax VT series has the spring loaded valve that opens under moderate to WOT acceleration and lets the exhaust pass straight through the muffler and has no drone at constant speed at all. I'm running all stock exhaust except for the dynomax vt setup. Can't imagine any other muffler set up than the DynoMax. Plan on putting hi flow downs in the future. Regardless of what you have heard or read, you are not going to come close to beating a SS Camaro with a V-6 unless you have a forced induction or nitrious setup. It's not gonna happen. A fully bolted on v-6 on E-85 with a killer tune might stay up with one. There's a vid of Bryon7 beating a SS convertible ON A ROLL start with that setup. But that is still not a linem' up and go a quarter mile race. So don't kid yourself into thinking that a couple boltons and a stale canned tune will put you on par with a SS. It's not. Just be happy with what YOU have, a cool ass 325+ hp car. If you want to compete with v-8's, you need to spend several thousands of dollars, not several hundred or a grand and a half, better yet, you should have bought a SS to begin with.

it will definitely not sound like a v8. Maybe on idle it will but it will never sound like a v8 while driving just because of the engine block and several factors such as stock headers. Not mainly because of engine cylinders. If you recall through history muscle cars were not called muscle cars by the number of engine cylinders. They were called muscle cars by their engine block size.

So I was thinking about getting the magnaflow cat back system but I want a loud exhaust even if it wakes up the neighbors . I've been doing research about mufflers offered as well as tube size. I'm thinking the super 10 muffler and then upgrading to 3" pipes . Any questions ?
