spot free rinse
has anyone purchased, used, or preferably built a water deionizer system.

I use a Reverse Osmosis filtration system with a 35 gallon reserve tank as my "spot free" rinse. Works phenomenally well! I purchased it from a local Water System/Home Appliance dealer.
I first attempted better rinsing by having softened water plumbed to my garage faucet, however, all that did was replace the calcium in the water with sodium still leaving water spots.  I still use my Master Blaster to blow water off the vehicle, and out of all the tough areas that like to hold water like the mirrors, side marker lights, grille, etc. I'll also wipe the car down at the end with Adam's Detail Spray in case I missed anything, but with the rinse water from the Spot Free system there's no need to rush if the sun's out.

Yes, very happy Mike. No need to rush to dry a vehicle in the sun. One drawback to an RO unit; water from your supply goes through the filter system where almost pure water (16ppm TDS) is dropped into the tank pushing water full of the remaining solids from the supply (260 ppm TDS) down the drain. Capturing the water to use for something else would be a good idea.
My municipal supply water prior to going through the RO unit has 254ppm of TDS.
