That alone shows a fair bit of incompetence from the shop. With a 2010 Camaro it takes about 3 minutes to do by yourself in your driveway - no special equipment required to sync the TPMS.

Is it a chain tire place or just a local mom and pop joint? If it is a chain place I would highly recommend going on their website and using the "contact us" to send an e-mail to their corporate and explain in a professional manner exactly what happened, and how much it cost you, and offer to provide receipts.

I have gone this route 2x in the past - one time at a tire place (they tossed my spare in after it had been driven on without putting it in a bag, disconnected my sub, and put the sub box back in the trunk backwards), and one time at an oil change place after they added too much oil and put oil prints all over the side of my car, hood, steering wheel, and shift nob. In both cases the corporate offices responded very quickly. In the case of the tire place I received $75 back on my credit card, and the oil change place I received a profuse apology from the manager and the offer for a free oil change. Making these things right are very important to many of the chain places as they understand how damaging bad word of mouth marketing can be. Mom and pop place, might not be the same level of concern.

Yeah, not a chain like Firestone or anything like that.

I just got off the phone with them and this is exactly what came up:

Quote:
They could argue that since you still drove on the flat tire for a bit, they are not responsible for full replacement. Then again, you might get lucky.
However, we agreed that they will pay $150 (half the cost of the new one installed). It is my fault for driving on it (even 1mile). Had I not driven it, we may have salvaged the tire. Luckily no rim damage as the tire just flattened outward.

If they wanted to fight it, I don't think I would have received anything in the long run so I'm good with $150. Definite pull with the fact that they do our company vehicles...

"tear them apart get everything you can!" You have a lot to learn. Why should he be compensated for anything more than the tire?

An honest, reputable company would replace the tire. Issue is that you took it to another company and had the problem fixed. I understand that you wanted it fixed quickly, but now two shops have had their hands on it.

If it were me, I would take the tire in and politely talk with the manager of shop one. If they tell me where to go, then I would take my business else where. Lesson learned.

Well, they agreed to 150... and indeed, lesson learned. Never drive on a flat tire... even 1 mile. Always try to take it back to where they botched the job, perhaps at least to give them a chance to make it right - but not necessary since they jacked things up the first time, who can trust them?

I'd take that $150 as a win for you for sure.

That's because at seventeen, you don't realize that you'd pay a lawyer $2000 to have a $300 problem fixed.......

That really sux. What sort of crappy shop couldn't reset your TPMS? I mean, besides installing tires and setting TPMS, what do tire shops do?

Well, in their defense for a bit... I don't think it was them.

Not sure if I have a bigger issue with my TPMS yet or not. When I cleaned my TB, I disconnected the battery and when I connected the battery, none of my tire pressures were coming up and the TPMS light came on. I then tried to reprogram them myself through the reprogram process mentioned by others here. Nothing was happening, so I bought an 80 dollar reprogram device and I still could not get them to sync. So when I went in for these new tires I asked them to do it, and they couldn't either so I had the plan to go see the dealer right after the install of my new tires.

Sounds like they tried to do the right thing. $150 is a cheap lesson about driving on flats. Sorry for the last post rant, just have no patience for ignorant kids anymore.

Gm tech didn't tighten mine all the way down this fall when they put my winters on. Glad I had tpms on.

With that said I'd go back be polite show them what happened. They may pay for some all or none. But you won't know unless you try. But if you go in yelling they won't do shit.

Yes indeed! Completely agree. Car was running just fine Sat and Sunday afterwards with the temp 315 they put on. No weird vibrations or anything of the sort (rim damage). The new one is due to be installed later today after work.

why didn't you at least let the first tire place that you say made the mistake, attempt to fix it?
