What a pain to get my inspection sticker !!
Honestly it's my fault. I did the fuse pull to get rid of potential low octane tables then went for my NYS inspection. Well the computer obviously had 4 systems not ready for testing. I had to do the GM OBD2 driving loop 5 times to get all the systems back on. Thank God Saturday weather cooperated here. Good part was driving the car for a couple of hours was nice. Anyway on a positive note the car felt amazing after the fuse pull, some BP premium gas and a can of Torco for cheap insurance.

Hey man, if the car was run on 87 or cheap gas before then you might want to look into the fuel map fuse pull (This time under the hood) to help reset the fuel tables. Basically if the car had shitty gas in it, it will sense that and pull timing as it sees fit to prevent problems, and unfortunately, even if it may sense premium gas back in it, it won't reset to the advanced timing by itself.
This may be entirely irrelevant, but throwing it out there. I did it with mine because the dealer had 87 in it and the car felt like a slug. |

A couple of years ago I had to put a new battery in my Avalanche the day before I took it in for inspection. It failed those 4. I drove the test cycle for about 20 minutes and it passed 3 of the 4 which was close enough.

I am from So-Cal, what the heck is an inspection stiicker?. We have to get our car smog every two to four years all depending how old the car is. My 2010 was not required smog until after five years.

The monitors in our cars will start running again if you drive it opposite of the breakin procedure. Start and let it idle for 2 min., no gas, then drive it like a grandma. Do not vary the speed. Drive it on the fwy the same speed for 10 miles... This procedure will get the monitors running, so, you can pass the smog test.

I do know that inspection time can be dicey at best. I try to go at least a month before my December due date; So I normally would go in November. If I wait until December then the chances are good that I'll run into snow and the dreaded salt spreadings. I've been late before with my other cars, which resulted in me having to do inspections months after their due date as a result of running into winter.

what is the stock timing in high and low tables? I can do a data log to confirm what timing is before pulling any fuses. and if it is low timing, then i would pull fuse, and log afterwards to confirm. on my 4th gen f-body ls1, high tables were about 26 degrees and low was 20. edit: see attached log from last night. Just messing around and first time i logged my car. 8.5 psi of boost, 84% TPS, and 22 degrees timing. Normal timing? |

If you want to see if you are in the low octane table then log "knock learn factor". If it is 0.00 you are in high octane table. If it is 1.00 you are in the low octane table. If it is anywhere in between you are in a mix of high and low tables. For instance if knock learn factor is 0.50 you are half way between low and high octane. Get it?
