OverKill 80mm Throttle Body

Finally got around to installing mine this weekend. Happy with quality and fitment. Super easy install that takes about 20 mins.

Question I have for you guys:

I'm noticing a whistling type noise that seems like it's coming from my CAI now. Specially around 2k rpms. When I step on it, it goes away but if I feather the pedal I can pretty much get it to do it constantly.

I've put about 2 hundred miles on car since install and this hasn't changed. Almost sounds like there is an air leak or seal issue etc.

Anyone else experience this? Is it normal?

Hm. Weird. Hopefully someone with the CAI brand intake can chime in. Worst case, I'll take it apart and reinstall next weekend.

I don't understand what I could have done wrong. Was sure to make sure everything was snug and good contact with intake box etc.

If you don't have a check engine light shouldn't be an issue...my engine whistles on accelerating sometimes though I don't have the same set up

I had that experience the first time I installed it without using a gasket . Two days later I reinstalled and created the gasket and no problem ever since then

Your TB is already bigger than the port on the ported manifold.

You would want to port the manifold out to match the TB.

What gasket are you referring to?

I have the newest model of the OverKill TB - It does not require using liquid gasket and has a built in gasket.

The stock gasket in the end of the manifold seals against the adapter plate supplied with TB and then the TB itself has a built in gasket that seals against the plate.

I guess I can try cranking both sets of bolts down further. I only tightened them with an allen key and snugged them pretty good with the "ol wrist torque wrench"

Im pretty sure instructions stated not to over tighten....

Anyone else please share your thoughts on what Im experiencing...

The original setup didn't have a gasket or oring groove machined into the adapter. That's what I'm assuming he is referring to. Will has made some changes based on my recommendations since originally coming out with the kit.

That's what Im thinking also.

Sssooo... What would you recommend. Does what I describe seem normal?

Would you take apart and crank the bolts down tighter? I kind of seems like its coming from the CAI (from drivers side corner of engine bay) but its hard to tell...

I hear the exact same thing after installing on my Colorado. I really don't think its actually an issue. It happens with barely any throttle applied at any speed, which leads me to believe its the sound of air rushing past a near-closed TB. On the OEM TB, you couldn't hear it because of the immediate turbulence created right after the TB. Now, you have a perfect transition where the air flows smooth, past the edge of the butterfly valve, like a whistle.
