I've been saying it for months. I think that GM is great to capitalize on a brand name so desperately wanted by so many enthusiasts, but a limited ZL1 is much truer to Camaro history when it leads the SS by so much. The Z28 is more historically the SS with better performance, not due to some massive kit or investment, but because it weighed less (impossible this generation), it had a better suspension (check: rumors indicate that a Camaro5 vendor is working with GM), and because it had different performance characteristics (sort-of-check: engine, but this one goes too far). The Camaro has always had a power source shared with a corresponding Corvette. If there is a base Corvette packing a GM V8 titled MT3, then the Camaro will have a slightly detuned MT3. The Z06 could therefore correspond similarly with the Z28. The upper tier of ZR1 and ZL1 packages could be different due to their nature in that the Camaro and Corvette peak performers have different markets, but the indisputable fact remains that any LSA-packing Camaro would outperform, at least on a dyno if not on a track, any LS7-packing Z06. By definition, this Camaro cannot be a Z28 as history would have the Z28 inferior to a superior Corvette Z06. While the SS (RPO Z27) should follow the Z28 on the track as an inferior performance package, the Camaro should always follow the Corvette as the inferior performance car. I hope GM looks at its history and offers a super Camaro in the proper name. If GM fails to do this, it will be more difficult for GM to lower its performance as may be needed in the future or offer a higher package as demanded thereafter.

If I see official release info before June I might wait but I highly highly doubt it. I'm also not really looking to spend that much (assuming it's going to be around $50K) as I can get exactly what I want in an SS2 w/ aftermarket hood, spoiler, and paint job for around $38K
