SO MAD!

Today I went to hop into my daily driver. GMC Envoy (wifes old car) and start it and hear something pretty nasty coming from under the hood. I open it to find the clutch fan wobbling and each wobble the best squeals. I couldn't risk driving 50 miles like this and with no other spare vehicle to use, I was forced to use my ZL1 Mind you it was 37* at 5:30 on this mid Michigan winter morning. Got to work, 25 miles on the expressway and a salt covered car I made it to work on time for a meeting, I could hear the rain coming down on the roof and I'm hoping like hell it stays well above freezing for my ride home. My car has never seen a drop of rain, let alone salt covered roads. If it wasnt for an important meeting and the fact that I'm leaving on a business trip tomorrow. I would have stayed home today. Maybe its time to upgrade the old daily driver. I will not be abusing my car like this again.
Now to find an nearby touchless car was with an underbody wash and get this salt off.
Rant over.

that sucks... it is a car it will wash... but it still really sucks. I dont want mine to ever see salt roads.

I got a letter from the courts saying I owe $1401.20 a month in child support... for a health 17yr old boy. That will sure as hell wreck your day as well.
Looking for a lawyer now.

This was today? I would not be out in mine here today. Sorry to hear. It's always a great time to buy a new GM though

well, since you started it.... had you paid child support previously? Is it your kid? have you contributed to him since birth/ at all? if in fact it is YOUR child, dont you think you are somewhat financially responsible?

It happens, but yes get all of that salt off. As soon as feasible, rectify that daily driver situation as well to avoid scenarios like you had today.

I usually make a habit of undercoating my new babies, but for an uncanny reason, I skipped the ZL1, and I recently undercoated my new daily...go figure!

I made it home ok. Was raining hard as hell. Car did fine I avoid most traffic with my hours. But wow. Inside of the wheels are white now. Ugh this is going to suck to clean.
Appears like the water pump is out on the envoy. No time to fix it myself so it's going to a mechanic friend who offered to help. He's a master mechanic at a dealer but said he'd do it alot cheaper over the weekend for me. Nice to have friends in the right places.
And I guess I don't have it so bad. $1400 in child support!? Hopefully not backdating 17 years!?

Move to a warmer climate with no snow or salt roads and it can become your daily driver. I live in Upper New york state and will be moving to a warmer climate very soon so I can drive my camaro every day.

You lucked out that this wasnt a typical winter here. Could have been 10" of snow and zero degrees out. My car when new was a GM program car. Its first 125 miles were in the dead of winter in Detroit two years ago. Had it up on the lift and there were a couple of spots on the diff, and tranny housings where you could tell there was salt. Man driving this car in the crud had to suck pretty bad, stock tires and such.
