Service Stabilitrak?? Long cranking

Last moved my 2SS sunday 2/5/2017, tonight went to start it up I got this message and three lights on the dash i'll describe them the best I can. 1 is the car with tire marks behind it, 2, T/C and 3, car with tire marks OFF, (no check engine) along with a long cranking startup. this just started now. after having for the past month never had this come up. letting it sit isn't helping. however, the three times or so that i have driven it was fine. The temps been cold the last couple days, didn't test the battery yet, will check plug and plug wires as well. it has a cold air intake installed, car came with a tuner so i'm not sure what that's set at. funny thing is i took it home on a pretty cold day and had no problems. wonder what is going on...

Low charge on the battery. All other dash alerts including the Stabiitrak warning are a side effect of different sensors not coming up quickly enough because the car is struggling to crank.

If you haven't replaced your factory battery yet, it's time. It has a limited number of charge and discharge cycles.

Test the battery's resting voltage after it's sat overnight. If it's anything below 12.3-12.4 volts, you're probably looking at buying another battery. These cars are finicky about having full charged batteries, and will do all kinds of crap that doesn't seem battery related when it's not. Many thing that since the battery is supposed to be around 12.6 when full, 12.2 or 12.3 isn't bad. In fact it's well undercharged. Seems counter-intuitive, I know.

On a side note, use a Battery Tender or like if you're not already. Helps keep them alive and well longer.

This happens to me too, but I just replaced the battery and double checked wires, nothing is loose. I still get the message.

Alright I had a feeling the battery is starting to let go, noticed in the beginning it had a long cranking cycle on start up. The battery looks like its the original Acdelco probably from the factory and here we are in 2017 LOL. Took it for a spin down the block feels like it running on all 8 cylinders, only has 41,146 miles on it, parked it, went to restart and had a REALLY long crank and almost didn't want to start back up.

How many miles on your ride?

This started happening to me at about 90k... I have 103k now.

... so I replaced the battery. Well, the car was still slow to crank and one day, I did a very slow crank and all the bells and whistles came on. Car almost didn't start, but then I shut it down immediatly, waited a few minutes, then started it again... slow to crank, but started and all the lights went away.

So, then I was worried, what the heck... it wasn't the battery because I'm still starting up slow/lazy. So then, I replaced the starter. That fixed the slow crank. Now it cranks quick and strong, and with a powerful roar... but soon after I began to have lighting issues. My side markers wouldn't come on... my passenger side tail lights would not come on. Troubleshooted for a while and I couldn't figure out what the problem was...

So I took it in to a shop nearby that specialized in electrical. They told me it was the BCM that was going out. 600 dollars later (450 parts/150 labor), that was that. All lighting works perfectly, car cranks strong, and it feels good no longer having these issues.

Good luck with yours... hopefully its not the BCM in your case, and perhaps just need a new starter.

Also I should mention that you could also have a grounding issue. Search the web for your cars' grounding points and check all.

41,146 is what I have for mileage, all lights seem to be working like they should, i have installed an amp, with inline breaker fuse type thing 200amp was given to me from my coworker when I bought his old setup, also i have a capacitor as well, grounded to the body. only thing I did when doing the install was take the nut off on the positive to hook up the amp. Once everything was done had no immediate lights or warnings things seemed normal. This done last Sunday when I last started and moved the car. The battery itself could be as old as 8 years, carfax had no service history on the battery. will have to test the battery and go from there. Just freaking out on why all of a sudden the service stabilitrak comes up with three lights.

Def will, my car sits a lot in the winter, was getting all sorts of weird pops , service stabilitrack, 2 keys programmed msg, and a few others, took the battery out , its good but discharging was at 11.3. Luckily the battery was under warrenty so it was replaced for free, . I wish I could install a battery tender but my car is on the street and their is no way to run a extension cord on the sidewalk without someone screwing with it.

Oh i hear you there, same thing, its just sitting in the cold which sucks, was originally a VA and NC car but somehow made it up to VT and now NY, this is its very first cold winter too. Will find out when i go and get the new battery and will pickup a second tender. Since there is no engine light and other warnings besides stabilitrak it should be back to normal. That i also saw was two keys programmed as well
