Spare tire solution for road trips?

So I'm 52. The cars I've always driven have a spare tire. This car has some sealant and an air compressor? WTH? I'm a AAA gold member but aside from a flat bed and a 2+ hour wait what are they going to do for me? Also a lot of flats result in a ruined tire once you get the car stopped. I'd like to see sealant fix that! The 6th Gens come with run flats like my friends 17SS has. Not a fan of run flats but that's a 1000% better then what was provided for us.
Has anyone come up with a solution to this? I couldn't imagine taking a long trip with essentially a glorified can of fix a flat. This is total bs!

I bought this kit for my SS. Comes with a donut spare on a special rim that has enough backspace to fit over the brakes, a lug wrench, and jack.

You will be surprised at how well that tire foam works, I have Yukon hybrid that came without a spare, had a flat tire, hole in the tire, un-repairable, hooked it up, fixed the tire and I had to drive 40 miles to get a new tire. Just short of shredding the tire this will repair it!

Hello,
First time posting here, but been lurking for a while.
I'm looking to purchase a Z28 in a couple of months. Trying to learn as much as possible.

Anyway, I saw this post and thought I would mention that the spare tire kit (above link) states that it will only fit the rear of Z28 and ZL1 Camaros. You will have to do a double swap if you get a flat front tire. Hope that helps you out.

I've taken a few 2+ hour trips with my ZL with no issues so far, but not having a spare is a concern of mine. I haven't had problems with blow outs on the road with my prime cars, but I've had blow outs on the road at other times where I needed to put the spare tire on. I'm not sure how well the tire kit would work in a situation like that.

With tire pressure sensors there should be no excuse for running a tire low enough to shred it.

Forgot about those. I guess so. Still it's not an easy feeling without a spare. I must be old lol.

Anyone know why that kit in the link wouldnt work with a 2013 ZL1? I sent them an inquiry. I cant think of a reason but it clearly says 2014 and up.

Got a reply. The kit/spare will work with any year of the 5th Gen ZL1.

Go ahead and buy the kit...If I ever go on a long trip you can rent it out and make your cost back...I so glad to get the GY's off my car, they had me worried about a serious blow out that the repair kit could not handle, feel more confident that it want be a problem with the BFG's...Hoping to get it back today, called to check on it and it was in line for detailing and final inspection...With the good weather coming I'm ready to throttle it...

Good point. At least the BFG's have some tread on them. Less likely to puncture or blow out as easy as the GY. Maybe I will bite the bullet and buy them. Sucks taking off 1,500 mile tires to replace them though.
