Map view of facility in Oshawa
I don't know if anyone has posted this anywhere on the boards yet, but here's some food for the real obsessive-compulsive people out there (my wife in particular)...
An overhead look at the GM assembly plant in Oshawa, including the vehicle lots surrounding it. If you zoom in really closely and look at all the lots surrounding the facility, do you think you can find your car?

Yeah, it's pretty big. I also found another useful link...
This map highlights the different buildings. So if you know your car is being painted, look near the building marked as the painting facility, etc. I'm just looking for something near a frickin' railroad track at this point... (edit) CN railroad loading bays and switch yard are northwest of the Oshawa plant. On the map, look south of highway 401, west of Regional road 53... Looks like the loading bays for GM cars are down below Wentworth St. and west of Stevenson Road. Multiple lines of rail cars, many with loading ramps hooked onto the hind end. I'd imagine the cars in the lot next to the rail loading facility are the ones ready to ship. |

I've been trying to figure out where the striping facility is... The invoice lists Whitby, Ont., which is just 2 1/2 miles down highway 2 from the GM plant (in other words, the handling charge between those two facilities should be nothing but I have a hunch it's at least a few hundred dollars).
Considering the close proximity and access to major highways, I think I've isolated a few possibilities. I've eliminated some because the shape of the building or parking lot features have every indication it's a supermarket or car dealership, but I have a few suspects; one down by the waterfront and a couple of others up near highway 2. I haven't spotted any rally stripes on the images, though, so it's tough to say for sure whether or not I've found it. I'm going to keep scanning through the images (because Ground Effects doesn't list its Whitby facility on its website) and see if I can't isolate which building the striping facility is, just so we can all be a little more infatuated with tracking.

Is it a Camaro or a friggin' Cobalt?
Yellow with rally stripes, or I might just be hallucinating...
Follow this link, look for the walking bridge over the highway just south of the "A" bubble that shows up on the map. On the eastern side of the bridge there is a parking lot (the bridge almost points directly to the car in question) and on the eastern edge of the parking lot there are 3 cars parked together in a small grouping, the northernmost one of which is yellow -- and if you zoom in, it looks like rally stripes! Can anyone tell if that's a Camaro? Almost looks to me like there's too much rear window to be one. In any case, it's not mine because there's no sunroof. I'm just curious about whether it's a Camaro so I know what to look for in other parking lots....

My window sticker mentions the same company, but the window sticker makes specific mention of a handling charge for moving the car to/from Whitby. I'm imagining that they have a facility just down the road in that town rather than all the way over in Windsor.
